Facebook and Youtube lead many astray, their algorithms lead people down rabbit holes. You look at a clip showing negaitve comment on racial unrest, a couple of days later you're looking at Klan gatherings or militia activity or whatever. Then you can go to 4Chan, 8Chan, or Telegram and be lost to the real world.
Does that not work both ways?
Furthermore, if it does work both ways, does the Companies declared biases not also have an effect?

Just like the demented fuckwits who turned up at Dealey Plaza, where JFK was assasinated, to see the return of JFK Jr yesterday, and to scream out that the moon landings never happened and any other insane shit that came to them.
There is a clip has received recent publicity, it's a chat between two Q adherents. One is explaining how both General Patton and Benito Musselini were decended from Abraham Lincoln. It's sorta complicated but Trump is General Patton's son so he is a cousin of the Kennedy's as is General Michael Flynn. "It's all about the bloodlines."
Here we are: The first 2.30 or so covers the bloodlines but the next few minutes deal with the crowd that turned out to see JFK Jr return.

Anyways aside from the govt shouldn’t be shaming vaccine rates on any race based data as said in another post what’s interesting here is selective use of statistics. While they are over represented in jail on a percentage basis and that data is used to back a variety of grievances apparently being under represented in vaccine stats on a percentage basis is ok because on a pure numbers base more pakeha are actually unvaccinated.
This has to be the best example ever how statistics are manipulated for political causes.

"In terms of population percentage, Māori have had a slower uptake, Baker said. Pākehā were 11.4 percentage points off reaching 100 per cent, compared to Māori who were 27.7 percentage points off, the Ministry of Health figures showed".
It's understood that the final few in the percentages will be difficult to reach. People like that guy in Greymouth who attacked a cameraman would rather die than do anything intelligent.

A focus on a problem area is not racist. The people who are the problem identify themselves as a particular "race' (not that there is such a thing, only minor differences in DNA - see "The Myth of Race: The Troubling Persistence of an Unscientific Idea" is a book by anthropologist Robert Wald Sussman arguing that race is not, and never has been, a valid biological category in humans. Completely agree - and there are a myriad of ways we could do that without once bringing up Race.
The question is - are you allowed to do so, on the Basis of Race?

Oh Man, we could have some fun with Gangsta Rap Lyrics...
And this leads to the second problem: If people are self-identifying as a particular Race, are we allowed to refer to them (both positively AND negatively) as such?

And just because it's written in a book, doesn't mean it's true.
But back to Race - we know that certain areas have a number of Genetic differences, some of those we can see with our eyes, some we can't.
Whilst there's a fair point to say that the arbitrary way that Race was initially conceived may be unscientific - pointing out differences in genetic markers between say the Sub-Saharan Africans and the Egyptian Africans or to the Celts (aka Gingers) and Blond hair/Blue eyes in the UK, you can immediately see that there are fairly distinctive traits that are associated with people from specific geographic regions.
Now, obvious Caveat - just because people are different, doesn't mean they should be treated differently by the Law or the State for the most part.
The only exception being when some of those Genetic differences have Health consequences (such as higher risks of Cancer or hereditary/genetic diseases)

Anyone heard anything from the rest of the Labour party recently.....I do hope they are ok......blink twice if you are in trouble.....Thre
Blink..... Nationals leader is on life support and the deputy leader is on suicide watch.ffs
The first was from Talbot Mills Research, formerly known as UMR, which had ACT on 16 per cent, up three points from its September poll and just six points behind the National Party on 22 per cent. Further signs of a tipping point being reached could also be found in this poll’s preferred prime minister ratings: ACT leader David Seymour was on 16 per cent, seven points ahead of National’s leader Judith Collins.
Three successive polls have shown that, if National was a plane with Judith Collins as pilot, it would be of the kamikaze variety, with smoke coming out of its tail as it sharply plummeted towards the ground, and right-wing voters increasingly preferring Seymour as their pilot. In this month’s Curia poll, of voters who voted for National in 2020, only 17.7 per cent preferred Collins as their PM, while a staggering 25.1 per cent want Seymour.

What? You are now saying that the Law / State DOES have the right to enforce medical treatment on some people? What happened to their unalienable right to freedom of choice, regardless of outcome?
No, not at all.
Individual still has the right to choose, however if you have 2 groups, one of which has a genetic risk to certain diseases, in that instance - it is right and proper that they receive different levels treatment from the State on the basis of their race, that is predicated on that higher risk factor.
Or to use a different example - Women of a certain age need to get more regular tests due to their higher risk of things like Cervical Cancer - same principle:
Higher risk = higher priority.
At no point can the state enforce any treatment on anyone - but it can offer a higher level of care based on a higher level of risk.

No, I clearly don't.
Saying that there are genetic differences between distinct groups of people as an observable fact and reality is not the same as saying that we should treat them differently because of it - with the single caveat to that being Medical issues where Genetics plays a factor.

The best approach is to remove ALL restrictions in NZ.
If the unvaccinated plague-rats get infected and die, no problems there since they clearly say their immune systems will deal with the virus.
It really would become proper Gene-O-Clean for all of New Zealand's unintelligentsia.

I suspect a lot of people would be happy with that approach.
It seems the main concern is that the plague rats would still turn up at the hospital wanting treatment, and the health system doesn't have the capacity to deal with a widespread outbreak and the associated high hospitalisation rates and ICU care.
Of course there could be a vaccine passport requirement for covid treatment, if you have a non-covid medical issue we'll look after you, if you have covid you chose your path and are on your own....

If you've ever voted National, Labour, Act or any other post 1984 political party in NZ based on the premise that "less tax is better" and "business always knows best" then we're all at fault.

To add to this:
I don't mind paying taxes (Okay, I mind, but I grumble and get on with it).
In an ideal situation, I possibly wouldn't mind paying a *little* bit more.
What I do mind, however, is when my Taxes are badly spent. Things like personal vanity projects or schemes with a political angle - Diversity and Inclusions rackets or John Key's change the Flag farce.
Foreign Aid is another area where I think that my Taxes are being spent as if the Politicians earned it - now I'm not saying scrap all foreign Aid - only that I'd like to see some major changes, if private individuals want to contribute to Charity, that's fine, I don't want the Government doing it on my behalf, with resources that are meant to be for Kiwis.
Other things like when the Parliament slide that cost the Tax payer more than my House - those are things that when I pay my tax, I get annoyed at. I don't complain about when they use my Taxes to build a new hospital or hire more nurses etc.
Things that if they were paid for Privately or by individuals, would be either vastly cheaper (because of limited funds, more realistic budgets or not so many snouts in the Trough) or non-existent.
The second thing that I mind is that there is no gratitude shown towards those who pay Tax (and actually pay Tax, that is, Net-contributors) - all we ever here is 'The Rich need to pay their fair share' - which considering 20% of the top income earners pay something like 80% of Income tax is a bit Rich (Pun fully intended).
There's this constant clamour from the Left that it's these Evil Rich People and if we could just help ourselves to a little bit more of their wealth, everything would be perfect.
I can't stand that, both from a purely Economics PoV but also from a Philosophical PoV.

Anti vaxxers, and like the Stratford cases: only one of the six vaccinated, sick but don't get tested, don't scan, don't take any notice when it's reported that the virus is detected in the waste water for nearly two weeks. Plenty of excavators and bare land for mass graves in NZ. Refrigerated truck unit be more practical, reefers would need electricity/generators and a suitable area to lay them down in a practically accessible area. Odd that you would be against what you are now again falsely applying to others?
Do you find it difficult to remember your previous trolls.
The noun Pandemic is not mentioned in that post, does one not understand grammar.
Every disease is a Pandemic in the modern world as they all spread “across the country or roundvthe world”.
1600 people sick in a country of 5 million is no crisis worth destroying jobs and lives for.
Well well well, our journey into communist hell continues.
There has only been 1650 alleged cases (out of 700,000 tests!!!!) of the virus, but what has spread faster has been submission to communist control.
Nearly 2 million have downloaded the Covid app so you can be sent to a govt “ health” camp to catch the virus if you didnt already have it.
But yay 3 million kiwis have said no to turning their phone into govt spy device.
Tommorow is D-day, public transport will be the barometer of how many of us have rolled belly up to mask wearing.
Hopefully most will say screw this shit and drive their cars to work.
You don’t have to wear a mask if it affects your physical or mental health and you do NOT need to present documents to prove this.
Out and about it’s refreshing to see nearly No one scanning the qr code thingy.
It’s quite clear now as the mountain of contradictions grow that it’s not about stopping the “virus”..
Masks are for destroying social interaction and communication with strangers. You know those moments in life when some shitbag is bashing his missus and enough of you make visual contact to know you’ve got each other back and intervene.
But with masks there will never be any Flight 93 “lets roll” moments of bravery, you’ll never know if your fellow citizen is a Karen or Stasi as you reluctantly board the blacked out train carriage...
A cop will never see your friendly smile, never know you like them and not let you off that minor stop sign indescretion...
Spare a thought for the unfortunate households this Xmas....
The households where Karen’s live.....
Instead of milk and cookies they will leave hand sanitiser and toilet paper out for Santa....
But he won’t be here Xmas nite Jonny, he has to stay in quarantine for two weeks first...
I can’t belueve comrade afdrn has t used this.... kids are very observant, how come Santa has freedom of travel?
The media are tripping over themselves trying to solve the mystery of why Africans aren't dying from covid as badly as the west.
Africans routinely take a cheap safe anti malaria drug invented in n 1960's called hydroxychloroquine....
Scooby Doo would solve that puzzle faster
So many vids about the Biden regime now investigating the “ outrageous” wuhan lab conspiracy its hard to choose which one to post
Your odds of dying from Covid in NZ is about the same as winning Powerball....
People dream of winning powerball, actively visit known powerball superspreader hot zones twice a week in hope of winning...
Meanwhile about 6 times as many people die in drink drive car crashes.
We even have mass random surveillance testing for that too, typically about 1.5-2% are ‘ infected’ with the influence of alcohol.....
Would we tolerate say a 24hr lockdown every time you bought a beer at bar?
Or after your night at the bar you don’t leave through the front door, a govt agent escorts you to a ‘quarantine ‘ facility which you can’t leave for 24 hrs.
Just imagine that, we would ABSOLUTELY save 150 lives a year
The govt will NEVER do that so why all this crap with the virus where the potential victim has a 93% chance of not even needing hospital treatment...
As of Dec 4 2020
1,298,455 Total tests
2219 positive test results
139 (estimated based on 6.3% in previous data of 1600/80 approx) Hospitalised
25 dead
WHY is it SO HARD to find the data on how many people in NZ NEEDED hospital treatment for this.
This number has to be actively suppressed as ALL the other data comes up very EASY in searches.
The answer is so people don’t ask WHY are we scared.
Can you imagine a Pandemic being declared of the PM said oh by the way 93% of you that actually manage to contract the virus won’t need to go to hospital just stay home and rest.
Nothing else matters the maths tells the story, especially post lockdown any new cases should have spread massively as everyone suddenly enjoyed a watered down form of freedom.
And just think of all those Asymptomatic cases in the 3,800,000 people that have NOT been tested...
There should be another 6600 odd positive cases, another 400 extra in hospital and another 75 people dead, where are they????
Well it seems the MORE deadly and MORE contagious delta variant failed to deliver... just think about that, the infected person came on a flight where people would have taken masks off at times to eat and drink and all shared the same inflight tier facilities. THEN they sauntered all over a MAJOR metropolitan area and thefe was no outbreak.
Guess that’s why an ever nastier version lambda? Starts with L has just been “ discovered”....
Oh but we’ve locked down so quick, yes but not before the exposure events and not before all those exposed on weekends away returned to provincial centres.
One has to wonder if the new respiratory infection in young kids is a result of the sterility of lockdown life not letting there immune systems learn properly in early development months as the age band is very low.

Plenty of excavators and bare land for mass graves in NZ.
Possibly not. This area trucks all rubbish to the Manawatu. The problem seems to be contamination getting into the ground water. Corpses would be unlikely to be safer than household rubbish.
It's not just here, the Canterbury Plains would be unsuitable, as would other major areas of the country.
Yesterday I read an article that said COVID has entered the white tail deer population in the US. That means it ain't over when it's over. The virus, or mutants thereof, can return to humans from the deer population at random points in future. Marvellous.

Plenty of excavators and bare land for mass graves in NZ. Refrigerated truck unit be more practical, reefers would need electricity/generators and a suitable area to lay them down in a practically accessible area. Shocking layout and parking arrangements at most our hospitals would make it difficult.

Have you been lapping up the media reports of how lovely they are (by a msm that has been bought and paid for)?
So you're saying they failed to prepare for a variant of the virus that didn't exist at that time. Anyway, the DHBs are preparing - they have stocked up on refrigerated containers for corpse storage.
If liarbour had looked at the rest of the world, they would have seen the development of the virus. The DHB's had already prepared for larger numbers of deaths at the initial outbreak, but were delayed by the results of the initial NZ lock-up.
Don't worry about delta being "above the Bombays"... it is coming to a town near you very soon!
Well it’s like they must have wanted it to happen. They left the Aussie travel bubble open for a whole week KNOWING there was positive delta case outbreaks in one of the cities in travel bubble....
Yup. Australia was rife and they left the borders open. Surprise, surprise, with the result.

Ireland had a similar sized population as New Zealand with similar demographics and about 90 percent of their eligible population was fully vaccinated.
But more than 50 people were currently dying every week from Covid-19.
In New Zealand's context, that would be the third highest cause of death behind only cancer and heart disease.
"I talked to my colleagues in Ireland and I asked them 'How did you get to such high vaccination levels?' and they said the number one motivator was fear. People were terrified, almost everyone had someone in their family who'd died. The number two motivation was mandates," he said.
In Ireland, the unvaccinated were dying at far higher rates than the vaccinated.
Data out of the UK suggested the unvaccinated were up to 32 times more likely to die from the virus.

New Zealand has lower unemployment figures than Britain or the US.
Britain's national debt is running at over 100% of GDP.
The US national debt is over 110% of GDP.
New Zeaand's national debt is 28% of GDP.
COVID deaths per million:
US over 2,300
UK over 2,100

No because we donÂ’t have the FBI in NZ. And why would anyone resort to that sort of action when Jacinda bends over for anyoneÂ’s cause and is great at faking empathy.
Just look at Ihumato, it was about to fizzle out into nothing, all she had to do was no comment.... neck minnit she opens her mouth and another govt handout fuelling the divide...
In fact the height of tension at moment seems to be internal amongst Maori protestors using a particular Maori haka and havingvtrump flags alongside rangitiratanga flags.

So, one chat group, with a whole 43 comments....
Further of interest is that for a group with a supposedly nearly 1,000 members, Do you remember any major civil unrest 3 days ago?
One is reminded of the mass 'Protest' that was 'organized' in the US and was heavily promoted by the likes of CNN (odd that they were giving favourable coverage to the Right Wing...) where it turned out that the only people that showed up... were undercover Feds...
Just a thought.
As for the actual article, it's the standard loony-left-wing fare. Ironically, it could have been great if he'd actually mentioned what the root cause of the Kiwi love affair with the US is/was - which is the ideal of Freedom, but then to do that would require him to both understand the issue and to be charitable to the opposition.

“Conservation Minister Kiri Allan told a hui of various stakeholders in Tāneatua in November that money was not an issue, that it was available and DOC wanted the work done.
She would not be interviewed, but her office said in a statement that funding has been available for some time, and TUT has not accessed iT”
“Mervyn English, DOC’s governance and Treaty chief advisor, says it provides $2.2m a year as a “base amount”.
On top of that, DOC makes money available for various projects and activities.
“For example, DOC funded the purchase and the installation of new stoves in many huts.”
Sources have told Stuff that Tūhoe haven’t been letting DOC staff into the area to do maintenance work, preferring to have their young people upskilled to do it.
Kruger confirms this.”
Meanwhile, Wayne Beattie, a Detective Sergeant with Gisborne police who took part in a Tūhoe-sanctioned search and rescue operation at Lake Waikaremoana in November, says he was shocked by the state of facilities.
The Whanganui Hut had been vandalised, with condoms and human waste left on the floor, gang slogans drawn on the furniture and slats from the bunks used as firewood.

US has had some F'ed up stuff in the last few decades. Whiles its been bad, it did make a few more people proactive about how they feel (for good and bad reasons). People blamed social media but these folks were f'ed up to begin with, social media just amplified them.

I'm not sure that $55 million would be enough to 'purchase' an industry that still has revenues in the multiple $100s of millions, albeit those are in steady decline. I agree that the Public Interest Journalism Fund is a problematic solution to the cost cutting measures most are being forced to take, but if your thesis is that he who pays the piper calls the tune, shouldn't we be just as concerned about private ownership as we are about taxpayer funding?
If the problem is you're reading things online which don't appear in the general 'media', you might like to consider that traditional local media are considered 'publishers' and therefore subject to long standing legal redress and regulation.
Overseas based online platforms aren't yet subject to the same level of scrutiny, and are fighting tooth and nail not to be.
I'm still seeing articles published in local media critical of the government and its policies. If they were to disappear altogether, then yes, that would be a problem.

Well, that depends.
You can have the classical BBC solution (which used to be the gold standard in terms of unbiased reporting and content) - which is a very strict set of rules to prevent Bias or in cases where there is an issue that could be perceived as being biased that it's handled in such a way to present both sides fairly.
Or you can have the CNN/Fox solution - whereby both sides of an argument are represented, but represented on a single platform. This does run the risk of Echo Chambers, but whenever I watch something from CNN, I take a massive grain of salt that I'm watching the Democrat party narrative. When I watch something from Fox, Likewise but from the Republican view.
And you've hit the nail on the head - you have platforms such as Twitter, Youtube etc. taking editorial stances on certain issues/people - which is in contradiction to their claims of just being a platform.
I'm still seeing articles published in local media critical of the government and its policies. If they were to disappear altogether, then yes, that would be a problem.
I've seen some critique, but I think it's fair to say the following:
The critique of the government by the media has been more strident when it comes to concepts that the Left-Wing Media is favourable to (such as wanting more to be done for Climate Change) than it has for issues that are in violation of our natural human rights (Vaccine Mandates).
Today, however, I was bouyed by the fact that some businesses have publicly stated they will not discriminate based on Vaccination status and so are moving either to takeaway only models or simply not checking.
They will receive my continued business, the Cowards who post signs of 'we don't want to do it, but are doing it anyway' will not.

Valid points.... but the thing with private ownership is they have to produce a product consumers are WILLING to buy. It’s no coincidence that the decline in media independence through corporate ownership and in our case state sponsorship that people don’t want to BUY the product.
Technology took away MAJOR production costs for media outlets but in the rush to be first with the news and get as revenue based on click counts they’ve thrown away the quality and accuracy element along with any rational independent scrutiny of statements.
I just love Fluff news latest beggar banner where they say “hey you pay for streaming movies, you pay to curate your music in cloud, you pay for the latest blah blah you get it...” but they completely miss they are giving example of QUALITY products or services that people are Happy with.
Yes there are some articles critical of govt and been increasing lately but no where near what they used to be against both parties.

I'm kind of confused that anyone pays any attention to any sort of "news" media outlet. You guys know you're just feeding the trolls, right?
Sadly the taxpayers are being milked to feed the problem.
I'm not sure that $55 million would be enough to 'purchase' an industry...
OK, perhap rephrase it to "rent for a while"?

Sadly we still have the current level of journalists' and their particular approaches to writing an article.

Where was your outrage over this
The latest Crown financial statements show that National’s failed asset sales have carved a path of destruction through the government books,
The Financial Statements show that the sale of Meridian for below its book value wiped $378 million off the Crown’s net worth. This stands in stark contrast to the Government’s assumption that it would sell the assets for $700 million more than they were valued at on the government accounts. Additionally, the Financial Statements show that the ‘buy now, pay later’ scheme for Meridian has cost $33 million and ‘direct sales costs’ were $21 million. That is additional to more than $9 million spent by Meridian and Treasury in preparation for the sale.
"Selling Meridian for a low price has wiped $378 million off the Crown’s net wealth. Add to that, $33 million for the ‘buy now, pay later’ scheme, $21 million for brokers, lawyers, and ad-men, and millions more for Treasury and Meridian staff costs. That’s $450 million lost on just one asset sale.
"The sale of Mighty River cost a further $66 million in sales costs and has so far cost the public $49 million in lost dividends.
"National said that the cost of the asset sales would be minimal and the sales would go so well that they would sell the companies for more than they were worth. The opposite has happened.
"The taxpayer has lost hundreds of millions of dollars, and so have the ordinary Kiwi families who were conned into buying these shares by National’s $8 million ad campaign.
When Key gave private companies billions of dollars i find it odd he never asked for any conditions

Sadly on the first part, you are right - and I think this is one of the key failing of Modern Politics - that the Electorate expect the Government to solve their problems.
However, in this case, I think it's the timing that's the issue Stalinda has just yanked the rug out of everyone for a few cases of the Sniffles. And yes, I am referring to Omicron as the Sniffles.

So what does she do?
Does she try to speed up the bringing of Kiwis home by adjusting MIQ (since it's failed in it's purpose)?
Does she repeal Mask and Vaccine mandates (since they are clearly inneffective against Omicron as the vector was an Air NZ flight attendant)?
Does she do anything to address the Multitude of unintended consequences of her Authoritarian Policies?
No - she tells Russia to stop being Naughty.

Russia won’t invade anyway. There troops on border are like patched gang members sitting in a car in street while the prospects go do dirty work and collect debts.

What a Non event zero drama incident.... All that happened here was unjustified dangerous driving (nothing new to Labour Party prime ministers there) passing on the inside and driving on footpath by the PMs driver.
The core issue here is exceptionally poor location management by one would assume DPS and Police. What kind of Nicky mouse operation lets a protected asset be placed in a traffic choke point like that.
If you look closely the PMs wagon is in a parking/drop off frontage type area in front of some establishment and the “offenders” car is out on the proper roadway. They stop in front of the pms car and mouth off in feral fashion but not that loudly to be honest.
If this is “cutting someone off” the poor buggers manning *555 are going to be busy for years to come.
“Police are investigating” but will be lucky to make more than a $150 inconsiderate driving charge stick. The “ offender” stops on road (you could have a number of legitimate excuses for that) and it appears a passenger is doing filming and mouthing off. So unless they were foolish enough to brag online in advance and “planned it” then it’s a big nothing legally.
Despite the PM being a protected individual that could be a target the circumstances did NOT warrant driving on footpath in crowded urban area.

It doesn’t work like that. The PM’s driver, and the DPS, have to assume the situation is a genuine threat. They are entitled to responded accordingly.
It’s not like they can stop and have a discussion about whether the situation is just some feral fuckwits or a genuine terrorist attack in progress.

Actually, slight correction - the phrase they used was 'Matyring herself and her country for a failed Covid Strategy' and pointing out:
"Despite a high vaccination rate — 93% of people aged over 12 years — and the arrival of a milder strain, restrictions are only getting harsher."
Again, no mention of Lockdown, but an entirely factual series of Statements.

I get that but it obviously wasn’t deemed a “ genuine threat” by the security detail. Police only investigating after the video surfaced embarrassing the PM.
The security detail obviously assumed they were just loud mouth ferals otherwise a back up security car or police would have immediately pounced an executed an armed vehicle stop on the “threat”.

i think we had karl gustofs (Sp) and the LAW.
i seem to remember one wire guided similar beast was mounted on some m113 or Scorpions.
maybe the karls were guided, the wasp helicopters had something)
google says homing pigeon torpedo's and old spice cans for the wasp
google indicates no guidance for karls
no wire guided anything on the m113 and scorpeins but i did learn the our Scorpions had a 4.2 liter jag engine
and the aussies mounted the scorpion turrets on M113.
The army may still have the Carl Gustav, I don't know. The main anti-tank weapon is the "shoot and scoot" computer controlled Javelin. Ours will be an earlier version than is currently being shipped to Ukraine in numbers.

Yes it is. Best engine apart from the Meteor that the Brits put in an AFV in WWII. Everything else they did was overly complex and still underpowered.

Cheers i have heard that a lot of farmers used them for hedge trimers and all sorts of shit after WW2
I had never seen a video of one moving under its own power.
I know of a few quads powered by Flat heads and not sure what the chev ones had likely the old Six.
My dad used to drive a GMC 6x6 with a later blue flame as they were very underpowered to do 20T loads that kiwis did in 4 ton? trucks
The Flathead sounds different as it has a cross plane crankshaft a fair few years ahead of the rest of the bikes.:msn-wink:
My Bro said we had a few M113 with the turret off the Scorpion but it cracked the alloy hull, so they modified them to ambulance's
He sad they converted the Aussie ones here the same.

The officer appointed to examine what was available and recommend his choice prior to the M113s being purchased was the late Harry Russell MC. It can't have been a difficult decision, most of our allies were using them at the time. He certainly did a better job than whoever recommended the LAV which it subsequently transpired will not fit inside a C130. Ooops!

A relly who worked at Serco (and now LockheedMartin) in Trentham told a funny about the M113s - they were equipped with underbody armour which was removed from new and put into storage. Some time later the armour was to be refitted for the machines being sent to (somewhere dangerous). Armour nowhere to be found, all pilfered to make barbeque plates. He does a bit of work on the LAVs, too. They sound interesting.

Aussie had some made up while in Vietnam as it wasn't so good with mines, as you would expect. especially the us ones they used to dig up and place against the Yanks.
They too put them in storage when its not getting used in war zones and it weighs i think 3/4 to 1 ton and somewhat it limits its ability to maneuver or do other stuff no need to carry it when there are no mines.
i guess there stuff was likely sold off for the social club as well.
From what i understand i think the other version the poms had of the scorpion for recon has never been replaced as no one builds a replacement.
I think the scorpions biggest fault was the Jag engine later ones were (i want to say cummings powered) they were chosen t fit in a Herc.

An old boss, welshman in brit army gold us a story well over 20 yrs ago, so I'll make up some bits.
Having been caught with thier pants down in last two WWs the Brits put away some army reserves. Eventually these all got old. So they pulled out a couple of brand new (NOS) Cheftain/Sherman/Centurion/insert best guess here. And drove them to Salisbury plain for target practice. They were so hopelessly unreliable they had to change the engines (maybe removable?) to get there.
And blew them to bits.
Anyway, I blame Jacinda.

pretty sure there is a reason we drive about in Japanese cars now.
to my mind it wasn't about the wages it was because the pom directors wee more worried about shareholder (normally toffs like themselves) returns than investing in the machinersy needed for mass production.
Its not the quality the fact that most of the rally cars and F1 manufacturers and designers are still based in the UK proves that.
it only took a few years to kill BSA form the worlds biggest to out of business due on the one part one bike that no one asked for that the guy that designed it want up to it for that never made production yet they had invested in the tooling and parts. when all they had to do was keep making what they knew people wanted in a quantity to fill orders.

Sounds suspiciously like the notoriously unreliable Leyland L60 engine, used in the Chieftain. It was designed to meet NATO specs of being Multi-Fuel, then NATO changed it's mind and went with conventional Diesel for the likes of Leopard and Leclerc. Anyways, the Engine was so bad that at one point it had a 90% breakdown rate, it's one redeeming feature was that it could be swapped out as an entire powerpack in a couple of hours.

Way back in history there used to be a full Brit armoured unit worth of tanks mothballed in Singapore. All the extras included: recovery vehicles, flails, the whole works. Every few years a cavalry unit would fly out from Britain, get the tanks out of mothballs, do exercises with the then resident infantry units, put the tanks back in mothballs and fly home.
The unit I saw was a hussars unit. They were an interesting lot. The officers had to have a private income of X many thousand quid per year, because they would not be able to live in the manner expected of them on army pay.
I'd assumed that the hussars units might have since been consigned to history, but it seems there is at least one extant.

Heh, thanks for the offer - this saturday will be spent DIY-ing.
As for the Swim - I've always wanted to do one of the ocean swim series, but due to getting a tummy bug at the beach when I was younger, salt water makes me vomit. So fresh water swimming it is.
My all-time swim record was 5 Km (took about 3 hours) and my goal has been to get my 1 Km time under 20 minutes, at the moment it's hovering around 23-24 minutes.
I've been training at my local pools since about October/November - including a solid hour swimming without touching the bottom, bought myself a wetsuit for it etc. etc.
TL;DR I was really looking forward to the challenge as it's the first time I've done something like this, and it's no secret (even on here) that I'm on the portly/fluffy side of things.
It's the absurdity of it all that is really grating on me.

The list of cancelled events, that people have put considerable time and expense into, continues to grow. Sadly most event organisers aren't willing to risk the fines for non compliance, regardless of their personal views on the situation they really don't have a choice but to comply.

1: It has the largest ingress of people from overseas

Auckland was always going to be the problem. I wouldn't say inevitable ... but that would have been the way to bet. Odds on favourite :calm:
1. It has the largest ingress of people from areas covid has the predominantly higher infection/death rates. USA and Europe for example.
2. You mean the largest City in NZ by way of population. Population density doesn't feature. Those that live in the denser populated areas ... can't afford to travel far.
3. Aside from the fact that that applies throughout the country ... Auckland is no more affected by transmission ... than ANY other populated parts of NZ. They just get more infected people going there.
4. They can be found in OTHER parts of NZ. Dorkland don't have them all. They're not that special.
5. Contact tracing is not done for the purpose of stopping transmission. Don't sign in anywhere ... and you won't be notified if an infected person was in places you went.
6. The vaccine passports (At best) proves the person named has had some of the vaccinations. (refer to your number 3.)

Except it has more people, in closer proximity, therefore the chance of transmission is greater.

3 and 4, but it reduces it.
Reduces (debatable) but does not stop.
And therein lies the problem.
See, we hear about 'Community transmission' and 'Rising community cases' - and that these are the justification for the continued sledgehammer on our Civil liberties.
But those measures taken, ostensibly to 'stop' the virus, do not stop the virus.
Therefore the supposed moral legitimacy as to why these measures are in place evaporates. The reality is that even with the draconian measures in place, we are going to have community cases. The vector for Omicron proves that, it came in via an Air NZ Steward who:
1: Would have been Double vaxed (otherwise no job)
2: Would have been Double vaxed (or not allowed on the plane)
3: Would have been wearing a Mask
4: Would have only been in contact with people who were double vaxed (or not allowed on the plane)
5: Would have only been in contact with people wearing masks
If the measures don't stop it, then we have to accept it's going to be in the community. Just like the Cold, just like the Flu. And for reference before we worry about floods of people in the Hospitals - 70% less hospital admittances compared to it's predecessor.
If we accept it is in the community - then the Traffic light system and the Ahren passes can all fuck off.
Are you Joe Rogan? You're just promoting misinformation which is why you on ignore Tit.
No, I'm actually promoting what the science has consistently said:
Only N95 masks, properly fitted and worn 'stop' transmission, and vaccine efficacy (with regard to transmission) wears off *significantly* after 2-3 months. going from about an 80% reduction in transmission (compared to an unvaccinated person) at the 2 week mark after the 2nd dose, to 20% reduction (compared to an unvaccinated person) at around the 3 month mark. Hence the need for Boosters.
And as proof of this - you can go back over a year and see my opinion on masks clearly outlined, it hasn't changed (because the underlying science hasn't changed), whereas the public narrative or the Approvedtm misinformation has.
But I'm genuinely flattered that you compared me to Joe. Regardless of whether you agree with him or not, the man has integrity and always honestly engages and challenges his guests.

Masks ... can't stop the virus if they're not worn ... or worn/used correctly. Reduces rather than removes the risk of transmission.
The other way to go is have TOTAL lock down. Although that might be a tad unpopular.
Vaccine passports show the named person on it has at least been been vaccinated. It lets you into businesses ... so I see no issue with that.
Contact tracing helps if you've left your details where a person known to have covid has been. Then you get called and you get tested if there was. That shouldn't be difficult to do ... or understand. If you don't leave your details ... you just put yourself at risk. Ignorance is bliss eh .. !!

I said I've been in smaller cities with larger populations. I never said where ... and Dorklands population density has little to do with the number of covid positive people coming into Dorkland.

Except density increases each interaction. More interactions = more chances to pass it on.
The more people (Aucklanders) that break the rules ... the more interactions you'll get. And the more it spreads. Total lockdown of Auckland is needed now. That'll teach the fuckwits.
Sure... Person A breaks the rules (naughty naughty), and encounters Persons B, C and D who are all following the rules.
Person "A" in Auckland. I rest my case for their total lockdown.
If the rules work, then persons B, C and D won't pass it on.
Then plan A should be ... Follow the rules. Oh wait ... IT IS.
If the rules don't work, then persons B, C and D will pass it on.
Rules can only work if people follow the rules. And too many don't. But it's not their fault ... apparently.
It's the density of pricks in Auckland that don't follow the rules ... that is the problem.
Guess which one happened....
See above.
Dunedin follows the rules ... no (reported) covid cases here. See ... the rules DO work ... you just have to follow the rules.
So simple. Even you should understand that.
So it's not Freedom then.
I can go where I please ... sounds like freedom to me. But it's Dunedin ... not Auckland ... It might be different up there.

The only thing that isn't their fault is that the rules don't work. Dunedin has half the population density of Auckland, that alone is either a reduction of 50% (if it scales linearly) or potentially much more (if it's a square function, which I suspect it might be)
But again, if the rules worked, isolated rule breakers wouldn't be an issue. But they don't. And should be scrapped.
I can go where I please ... sounds like freedom to me. But it's Dunedin ... not Auckland ... It might be different up there.
It might be, I wouldn't know. But can you go where you please without showing your papers?

It's the university educated middle class that's the issue.
Most of the Lower classes aren't onboard with Labour's more radical positions (just look what happened in the UK), but Labour still has the veneer of working class support.
However people like the Farmers, Truckers, Small Business owner - they are starting to see through the facade.

Cmon you know how it’s paid for doesn’t matter to Commie dictators 😂😂😂
IÂ’d say about a 3% tax on personal income.... thatÂ’s slightly below what commercial brokers recommend you should be willing to spend for private loss of income insurance. So just like ACC motorbike premiums the more successful and less likely to claim the more you will pay vs the leaner biker on unregistered shitter with canvas tyres.....
Tag on a big speech straight from the horses mouth about equality and the creation of a flexible labour pool where people are alledgely more willing to travel for and take up shorter term employment/seasonal work....
My job is slightly seasonal and my employer would love the massive cost saving to be able to give me a four month holiday paid for by the govt knowing I’ll be back again when “ things get better” 😂😂😂😂
I canÂ’t see how they can justify this at all though given across all industries thereÂ’s a massive shortage of skilled labour let alone ones that can pass a drug test and actually turn up to job interview.
Well we seen the results of kiwibuild (100,000homesxyeah right), ending child poverty, affordable homes, crimewave yeah there’s no way this could be anything g but a success 😂😂😂😉

Semantics probably, but I reckon that they very much care how it's paid for (support is important after all, else truckers), but don't care where it comes from. Bottom line: Money, like bitcoin, will be created on the basis of perception. So long as people don't complain (which they won't given their diverse portfolio of a never ending stream of only ever increasing in value into the long term digital currency portfolio), they'll print it how they like simply to keep the economy going without having to constantly make excuses that defy free market theology. They have no choice. There is no other source of justifiable money creation. QE is fucked. Capitalists are easy to take along for the ride, because they don't actually know where money comes from nor how it circulates around the economy v's the true value of what's being sold etc..., because when they think about the economics highlight just how silly capitalism is to be using in this day and age.
Commies don't use financial autonomy as tools to lead the people into communism. Totalitarians do... but hey, digital currency beyond your wildest dreams... you're gonna prove Klaus right arencha? You already are, Comrade :shifty:

While some are laughing at the freedom protest lazily labelling it as anti vax itÂ’s foolish for anyone to dismiss that we have a serious problem brewing in this country.
Look in the video and see how many people lining the streets to greet convoy, in the rain! NZ people are not into protesting we donÂ’t like to make fuss. ItÂ’s hard to hide the numbers despite media efforts....
ItÂ’s so bad and the govt is so worried they ordered police to stand down with a one newscast reporter saying no police were visible at all. That is UNPRECEDENTED for any NZ protest action, even parking wardens stayed away and they must be pretty thick skinned and tough characters.
Just think about that a govt to scared to let it’s police near a “ minor” protest.....
We seem happy to let gangs, boyracers, bad HNZ tenants, protestors Et al to run wild and free in this country. Just like hipster parents who won’t discipline their kids where in for a world of trouble when “lil Johnny” really decides to play up.....

Nah. These misfits are a tiny, statistically insignificant, minority.
The advantage of a convoy as a protest is that it looks big. It's deceptive though, when they all get out of their cars they are just a few no hopers.
You will probably have noticed (well, possibly not) that the policing situation has changed. If it was up to me, fire engines would have arrived with the cops and hosed the fuckwits off.

It seems you are confused and haven't been payng attention. As your colleague R650R pointed out, yesterday there were no visible police. Despite the fact that the clownvoy had just stopped their vehicles anywhere that took their fancy, there were no Parking wardens. And in Wellington, where the Council tows vehicles with enthusiasm, that is unusual.

Okay, let me ask a question then:
What necessitated the sudden Police presence?
I think the reason there was limited Police yesterday was because they didn't think it would amount to much and now they've realised there's an actual protest (that isn't going away), they have to have a show of Force.
As for the Trump Flags - isn't it interesting whenever there's a call to Freedom, Trump flags are found...

The entirely reasonable explanation for lack of police was that they were being allowed their right to protest.
Now that their Freedomtm protest is affecting the Freedom of movement of other law abiding citizens, and the Freedom of legitimate business owners from operating their businesses without intimidation, they have responded in a relatively non confrontational way. Or is this the Extreme Right Wing that has since labelled Russell Brand (of all people!) 'Right Wing'.
What is it that you actually consider Right Wing?
As for News Propaganda - There's a Left wing bias in Media, it's been well documented. Some of it is within the bounds of acceptable, some of it is just blatant BS. The more you try and snuff out bad ideas as wrong-think, the more people will resist.
Detached from realiity but servants to what ever they read on Social media. That is their bible. These are the people overstaying in front of the Beehive.
Ah yes, Social Media - also with it's demonstrable Left Wing Bias....
Not what most New Zealanders need right now, this has shades of the Insurrection on Jan 6 and the Whitehouse episode.
And what do New Zealanders need? How about their Rights respected? Their right to choose without compulsion? Not a big ask, we've got 90% vaccinated - yet we are still being penalized for something that based on all reasonable Science, is the Sniffles. Omicron is very transmissible but is less deadly than the Flu.
Get the army in and heavy lifting gear and move these guys out, and their trucks and cars. Get rid of these wankers.
Ah yes - the Tolerance of the Left, Just like Tianneman Square.

Yes I do, I certainly didn't vote for that first time, but clearly a lot of people did else she wouldn't have been able to roll national with just a little bit of Winston elbow.
As historically a national voter I voted for her that last time as she was clearly the competent leader Bridges or any of those other Wallys weren't.
Well, at least we know who to blame... As for Competent Leader, does a Laugh and a Nod constitute competence? Just curious...
We'd be knee deep in complaining about the state of the hospitals and fuked economy if English had won as he'd never have closed the borders and upset the airlines and tourist economy. Until it was too late and they would have been worse off.
Now, I agree National are also Useless. Today I saw their Covid plan, it was Labour Lite and they were getting absolutely Lambasted for it (which was glorious to see). National have lost their way, most likely because most of them don't have a clue as to what being Conservative actually means.
We'd be little Britain right now. No fucking thanks.
Now it's time to take our bitter pill but at least with a reasonable vaccinated public. Except for the flat earth society.
At least Britain has (finally) gotten rid of all their Mandates...

I was downtown Dunedin today ... was asked to show my covid passport twice. I showed it. Neither time was it scanned.
Last night my wife and I dined at the local Pub. Had to show our passports. They didn't scan it either.
Yesterday we were at the library. Both of us were asked to show it ... and it was scanned.
The "NEW" normal.
Such is life now. Get used to it. Get over it ... Get on with it
No comment on those two complaints/questions of yours ... I mentioned/posted in a recent post.

As for the Trump Flags - isn't it interesting whenever there's a call to Freedom, Trump flags are found...
That's laughable. Unless you're counting all the free stuff Trump stole from the White House, but they're taking that back. First the paperwork, then the artworks, then the furniture.
The idiots with Trump flags would be incapable of explaining why they've got them but it is simple, it's just "monkey see, monkey do." THere are not many brain cells at that demo. A lot of mental illness though.

You can laugh if you want, but regardless of whether they can articulate it or not - Trump was not an establishment character, he was the under-dog, he was a massive Middle Finger to the cool kids club, He said exactly what he thought and bugger the consequences, he was anti-war, he was against regulation and most of all he was for individual rights.
That's why people have the Trump Flag:
They aren't the Establishment.
They are the under-dog.
They are definitely giving a Middle Finger to certain groups.
They say what they think.
They don't want to be lorded over by an ever-increasing tyranny of unjust laws, regulations, mandates and the like
And most of all:
They want their individual rights.

Not advocating for injecting bleach, asking the question can bleach be used in someway.
Now - don't get me wrong, it's a really stupid question to ask (if you remember your basic biology) - but in the entire clip he was spitballing multiple ideas as to ways to try and combat it (before the Vaccine was available).

Apparently you missed his presidency somehow. He did say what he thought, it's just a shame that so little of it was coherent. The press couldn't report exactly what he said or they would have been accused of taking the piss. They had to edit his statements so as not to show he was insane.
