I went down to Kaitangata after the protest ride. Brother was in the half-marathon they had down there, so went down to see if I could catch the end of his race. Well and truly missed that but stayed to watch the prize giving seeing as he got first in the open section.

Never been to Kaitangata before... nice, albeit quick, ride from the first turn off a little outside of Milton. Should have carried on but the weather felt like it was starting to close in down there and with the new tyre on the back (two days old) didn't want to take my chances of getting caught in the wet. Get back to Dunners and its lovely. poos.

Hadn't planned on going to the Magpie but if the weather is dry I may change my mind and go. That trip should really wear the tyre in....

a ride over to middle march will certainly wear your tyre in

might be a tad breezy up that way right now.... that won't wear the tyre just a hole in my wallet from all the petrol guzzled fighting those winds....

How many Dunedin riders are going to the KB rally at Kopara and when are you travelling, and which route?

We're heading up on Friday morning - the route will be a bit weather dependant. If its torrential on the W Coast then it will either be up the middle or up the East Coast (maybe meet up with some ChCh riders??)

Not to mention people taking kids on the ride with no protective gear, bare arms etc etc - just beggars belief how farking thick some people can be..

NOW - WHOSE coming to Kopara ????

Thats sounds good XK - I was planning on coming through anyway so it looks like I should bring the bike (weather forecast says it could be blowing it nuts out so it might not be a pleasant ride in....... but then its still more fun than the car)
When are you heading to Kopara??

I am hoping to leave Dunedin early - well early by the pillion's perspective!! - so prob around 8:30 - 9 and at this stage prob riding with the Shreks as well. There is a chance our plans may yet turn titsup but I should know today or tomorrow whether that is going to happen.
We would head up the inland route from Winchester - Geraldine etc to catch the West Coast road at Sheffield and hopefully meet up with some others there.

You do realize that riding with us will just make you want a big adventure bike even more !!!!:2thumbsup

Could be a tad early for me; I'm a good 1 1/2 hours away from there. However we'll see closer to the time.

Have a look in the top right hand corner of this post.

I could catch up with you, and maybe give you a toot as I pass!

A friendly warning for those heading to the Burt via the SSR; Mr Plod has been making his presence felt, (to my cost) between Fortrose and Invervegas. I have been reliably informed that they're hitting that section pretty hard.

paying enough farking tax this year without adding those bastards into the cost structure - and if I keep my nose clean for another few months I will even manage to lose the last of my demerits.......... (hmmmm - does that mean more safety margin from losing license if caught again......:devil2:)

I wasn't for a minute suggesting it's a BIG adventure bike. I only mentioned that to illustrate the fact that I'm now broke again and can't afford a big adventure bike.

The CS doesn't even pretend to be an adventure bike at all. (CS standing for City Sport.)

Also known as Scarver for Street Carver.

I have an idea that name is already taken. 'Sides, if I use a sickle name I would have to change it every time I changed bikes. (Not that I intend to do so.)

Just a reminder that this Saturday 20th March the OMCC is having a Have A Go Day at Levels Timaru.
All levels of rider catered for so if you ever wanted to find out how fast your bike is or have a go on a race track thats the time and place to do it.
I believe there are still some slots left even though the entries were meant to be in by last night. Check out the info and maybe call one of the contacts and ask nicely if you want to go. The weather report said up to 26 degrees so should be easy keeping your tyres sticky!
http://www.otagomotorcycleclub.org.nz/1.htm

See you there.

it's always decided on the day. comes down to combination of weather and the experience of the riders esp as it's geared towards helping noobs and those just getting back into it.

Happy Halloween! I dug this old thread up from the grave- thought I'd stitch it together and give it life. Any Dunedin riders keen to go for blast down the Highway to Hell (and/or take the scenic route)?

Well, there are a couple of options: short, medium and long. My usual short ride is down and up the peninsula, medium means going past Brighton to Waihola and then from Mosgiel up Three Mile Hill Rd, and long might mean getting lost somewhere near Middlemarch. All good fun and all strictly within posted speed limits, no scaring of the civilians. Always open to good suggestions...

HRT
21st July 2012, 10:42
Those are my short/medium and longer options on a nice day too. The last couple of times over to Waihola its been a bit slippery with no sun drying out a lot of corners over the top

This is my first post on KB in about 2 years, how did this thread get so slow?

logging onto one biking forum is enough hassle.. can't be bothered with the southern rider one since its basically just like KB and everyone on there seems to be on KB as well :)

just keep this thread up..

I'm always keen to ride, uni student so always got time during weekdays and weekends unless im out of town racing

my mrs will be keen to get out on her gn250 with some others if there are some gals or guys on gn's or commuters that are keen to ride with her. Shes coming up to her restricted licence and maybe a bike upgrade to a sports 250 or maybe bigger in prep for LAMS arrival..

I told her she can thrash the rs250 if she wants :D

p.s. I prefer short joy rides, peninsulas a good run and if you head out over halfway bush for a little while. No long straight roads..

tigertim20
23rd July 2012, 16:55
most of the SR members are on KB as well, but very few of the dunedin ones actually come on kb with any regularity - with the exception of people like me who come here to stir shit, and generally be a cunt.
If you wanna be talking to the active dunedin rders, youre probably better off over at SR for that stuff.

the thursday rides should be starting again before too long too, days are getting longer again now etc etc

Fast Eddie
23rd July 2012, 17:52
yea true.. SR doesn't have as many trolls (entertainment) as KB so I never log on there..
