Hey they are interesting links. Are there any more CX / GL sites you have? I know about the CX owners clubs in Oz and the UK already, joined up too.

Here are some CX links, I have probably read most of the pages on these sites sorting out stator, cdi, carby and fork problems ...

    http://choppercharles.com/cs/forums/ (well supported forum)

http://choppercharles.com/cs/ (main Chopper Charles page - he converted a CX into a chopper... )

    http://www.elsham.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cx500/ (awesome resource page)

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/cxism/ (tinkering, odds and sods)

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/cxism/teknix.html (electrical and mechanical info)

http://groups.msn.com/AustralianHondaCX500CX650Register (Aussie msn site, Don Seedsman has helped me immensely via email)

http://cx500.gobinet.se/ (Swedish forum and general info pages)

    Hope these help

I have not seen the fairingless GL before, it looks like a VF750 Sabre... the only GL Silverwing I knew of was the kaboodle bike.

Anybody got an ok stator I can buy?
I guess I could rewind one myself... ahem... maybe that would take a while.
I know there are those places overseas who do rewound exchanges, you send them your old one and $200, and they send you a rewound one.
Is there any source closer to home.
oh, I should try buckets n bits, they are dismantling one at the moment.

A rewinder took a look at my stator and politely said thanks .. but no thanks.

I got a secondhand one in good nick from EconoHonda in Te Aroha.

Thanks, I have solved the problem by not buying the bike that needed the new stator.
Sometimes it's good to not have a trailer or car, it stops me from buying project bikes.

Oh my, a CX500-powered Morgan copy! Well it's not a bike, but at least it has less wheels than four eh!
It's a thing of beauty, and you can buy a kit to build it yourself here for only 4995 Pounds.

What's the deal with CX's and Canterbury? It seems 90% of them on Trademe for the past few months have been in the South Island, most in Canterbury. Eh? Is this a statistical abberation or real? Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me.

I've noticed that too, there are only a few of them on the road in Tauranga that I've seen.

I get plenty of older blokes coming up to me at service stations etc who used to have a CX or knew someone who did, maybe they're Mainlanders lol.

Could be. Mine has a Tommy's Yamaha ChCh sticker on it. Now I remember test riding an XS650 Special from them 25 something years ago when I was posted to Wigram.

What do you guys use for your rear tyre? I need a new one going into winter, and for the next Wof.
Also, do you stick to Honda's 20-year-old advice on what tyre pressures to use, (probably intended for cross-ply or whatever) or do you inflate to the pressure listed on the tyre?
