The group ride was certainly a new experience for me.
Not counting the snail pace protest ride the other weekend, the largest would have been 7 of us at the Waimak or Banks Peninsula during the 90's, all on trail bikes, which is hardly the same thing.
During the ride I found myself looking in the rear vision mirror a helluva lot more than usual. Which is both good and bad.
Also ended up riding home in the dark which hadn't been done in a long, long time and found quite enjoyable.
Another 135km on the clock.
Anyway, a good experience and would do it again sometime.
But not too often, as my young lad stayed up until I got home. The dear wee thing...

- but they should still leave you some "personal space" too. Always helps to have a sensitive front brake switch, I've found - you can lightly cover the brake, enough for the lights to come on, to try to telegraph some risk to the following traffic (including cages) and **maybe** get some space back.
