No one jumps on the horn so quick about how great their bikes are like KTM owners. They seem to believe they have to justify their purchase maybe?

Personally I have owned all the jap brands and the difference between a good second hand one and a bad second hand one only seems to be how well they have been looked after. You can always find someone who has had a great run out of a brand and someone who has had a terrible run out of the same brand. From what I've seen most new bikes are good. Probably comes down to if you think the local guy, who does parts and service for your brand, is a good sort or a useless c#$@ who will mess you round.

Yeah I have the coffin ready because I know the orange machines lurking here are about to maul me for saying all this.

Spot on and i find it quite amusing....they are closely followed by 2 stroke riders but as Barty5 once pointed out, they are usually one in the same...................

Im a little sensitive about becoming like a Harley owner!
I will never adorn my body or my bedroom with KTM flagsand logos

Although ..... they did put out an orange toaster that toasts the KTM logo into your morning meal!

the single cam RFS is a bullet proof engine, especially the 250s as they share the same head and bottom end as the 530s....
Barty is talking about the SX-F and not the EXC-F.

I was looking at a 07 250 SX-F and heard they need he bottom ends done more than the japs so I rung a dealer and he told me 80hrs would be pushing it. I didn't quite believe him so I rang two more dealers and they told me the same thing, guessed they'd know best as they work on them. This would make the bike very expensive to own for a couple of years compared to a jappa.

I also sat next to Barty and priced up rebuilds top and bottom on a few different 4stroke MX (not enduro) bikes through his trade accounts, and due to the vast amount of choices you have on a jap bike vs a ktm the jap bikes were much cheaper.

This is what Barty is on about, and not your dad's exc. Those sx-f's are ment to be one of the most powerful in the 250 range around 07 hence they need more maintenace. A klx does not need the maintenace a kxf, same thing.

Have just brought Brooklyn his first MX bike (he doesn't know yet) - had to be KTM as they're the only one who does a 50cc mx bike.
