    Happy New Year Chaps!
Here is an interesting one for ya's. Was out for a wee blast today. Well actually a big day ride. Left Queenstown heading up to Benmore Dam to ride thru the Black Forest road, up to tekapo, then home. What a big day, but a goody. Unfotunately I noticed something real odd. Could not believe it at the time kept telling myself something else was causing it. Stopped in briefly to see my Motorbike man and he confirmed what I thought.
My Right side fuel tank has a tiny hole, crack or whatever you want to call it, in it. Its right in the corner of the tank just behind the oil resovior. I first noticed the big adventure sticker had blistered on that inside corner from some sort of fluid. Do not think to much of it at the time. When I fueled up in Omarama and rode off I looked down and abit of fluid dribbling out from the tank. A quick stop and yes its fucking petrol. I told myself it must be coming from a fuel line or something(even though in the back of my mind it was straight out of the tank). And it is. A real small crack.
How could this happen I ask myself? Nothing has hit it. Obviously a fault or a weakness in my right tank. The bike has done just under 25000km. 07 model. Its been riding how it was designed. On road and gravel roads. Shit i hope the dealer who I bought if off sort me out. I have a feeling the tank will cost a fortune! I will keep you posted on developments. Oh, and have any of you fella's had any problems with you fuel tanks?

    wow that sucks...
only prob with my tanks, they dont hold enough gas....

is the crack on or close to a stress point, like a tank mount,
ive not taken my tanks off as of yet,, service due in about 3,000km.

keep us posted as to the out come..

As you look at the bike, There's the so call hole in the tank(not the best description). Thru the so called hole sits the oil resovoir. So right in the inside corner of the tank Just to the rear of oil container, the bloody thing has split.I do not think there is any tank mount there. I know things get a bit bumpy from time to time on an adventure but fuck me!

The ride, and the bloody fuel tank ! Looks small and innocent ,but fuel spitting out near the hot exhaust is an interesting combo to say the least!

Pics of SW Motech crash bars mounts. Another good thing about the SW motech bars is I can take the front pannels off without taking the bars off cause of the largish gap (last pic) - you can't do this with the KTM ones.

I stand corrected. I thought they were to close to get a tool onto/into the lower plannel bolts?

They don't look as substantial as the KTM ones - which I can thoroughly recommend after crash testing.
I performed a nasty downhill highside which was given 9.9 by the Ukraine judge and although the bars bent slightly, there was no damage to the bike.

The bar is suppose to be heavier (larger diameter) than on the KTM ones, the lower front mounts are shorter so supposidly bend less and the front brace below the rad seems like a good idea. The rear mount onto the frame is the only thing I dont like and have poped off the LHS once in a crash. I have plans to try and deal with that though.
