The intiminators got a work out on the dusty and in my opinion they are fcukin awesome.

There were a lot of corrugations coming into corners and the front just handled them so well that in the end I was looking for the corrugations and front braking hard and not once did the front pack down or do any of the weird shit it used to do. It just stayed so planted it was incredible really. Kept me out of the bushes on the sides of the roads, not discounting rider error.
The vibranators seemed to work too i.e. no numb hands which I was expecting after that many ks.

Underground had just installed inaminute eggtimers in his Africa and he was equally amazed.

    Best farkle ever.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

you do come up with some goodies.
Discussing bikes and riding with MrsJatz on the way home and we both think a couple of DR350's would be the go for our kind of riding, put the Big and Ten in a rest home, and only bring them out on special occasions. The boy rode the tenere on the Maruia saddle on the way home and his opinion is you don't need that much power, he's happy on his 250 and handles it nicely.

Sounds like a good plan. DR350 is one of those under-rated gems. Somewhere there is a discussion on the merits of them vs the DR-Z400.
    Cheers,

The DR350 has a seat instead of a plank for a start!

    Cheers R

Cheaper than a DR-Z 400 for a start, not as high maintenance (?) and less bits to break. If they were good enough for the Mondo Enduro boys then they be good enough for us

Nothing a bit of foam and a sheepy wouldn't fix .

The discussion came about after watching the boy grow in confidence BTW.
We (me and MrsJatz) both started our ADV riding on 650's (F650's) and I just went up from there, with no previous trail bike experience I think I/we need to start again with something smaller to get the basics right on

start, stop , fall over - in whatever order - how could you get more basic than that.

Be interesting to see if after a year or so you'll want to get back on a big bike. It is funny how many people, like myself, start on a 650.
As a matter of interest why did you buy the F650's? When I started getting interested in adv riding it was after watching Ewan & Charlie. I immediately thought BMWs were the proper bike to buy. I even thought a 650 was small!!

MrsJatz had always liked the F650's so I bought her one, she hadn't really ridden a bike in 20 odd years, after I rode it I thought "hey thats not bad" so I did got one m'self, did my first D.B. then got my licence so I could do things proper .
Didn't even know about Long way round at that stage.
The Big and Ten will still be in the garage so we have something big to get on later

I've got a spare pair of these Vibranators. I ordered them for my Zeta bars, plus a set for use with BarkBusters when I get around to fitting some. But I found that the bolt in Zeta bar end caps fitted the BB type, so my Renthal/Protaper fit pair is spare.

Let me know if you're interested.

    Cheers - Chasio
