The only thing it means is the class wont run at that round

    Rule 4-10-8
At closing date for entries, if a minimum of 6 entries have not been received then the
championship class will not run for that year provided that if the event is part of a series
then this will apply only to that round.

So, if they've only got 5 entries for the next two rounds, does that mean the races won't run and therefore the championship will be non-existent this year?

I only know what you guys/gals have been posting (with lots of it being cryptic), so 'scuse the dumb questions/statements.

How many chairs are currently competing/running in NZ, that are/would be eligible for the championship events? Is 6 a fair number of entries or is that too many?

Good on you for wading in (no, seriously) with a great post.
Its not cryptic, so much as "inside jargon" for want of a better description.
Managed correctly, it would be quite feasible to get 20 outfits on the grid for most all of the nationals. We had 19 a few years ago & theres more in the country now.
There would have been at least another eight (without me even putting pen to paper) down south this year if things had gone according to the wishes of the NZSRA majority.
Six is a very unfair number, seeing as it was actually five, plus an old bloke that was bullied into putting in an entry who didint even show up on the day (see my earlier post) so the pair of blokes that wanted three rounds, could get the origonal two anyway.
If a NZ championship title is awarded this year, it will be the lamest win in the entire history of racing of any type ever, & if i was the recipient (and i wouldnt be because we wouldnt even have bothered to unload the sidecar if four others that were in a completely different (lower) league to us turned up) i would chuck it in with the recycling the following Thursday, because thats all it would be worth.

I agree entirely Sidecar Bob, It is obvious that the Championships aren't supported and such low entry numbers are only an embarrassment to the organisers and motorcycling as a whole. Its time they went back to being a support class only.

The only reason they wer'nt supported this year, is because the goalpoasts were moved regarding number of rounds, very close to the start of the season & after the NZSRA AGM, that is the only reason for low numbers this year & this year alone.
For instance, my household alone would have contributed two more outfits to the grid had things all gone according to plan.
These things are no use parked up in the shed, but thats what happens when the governing body dosent listen to the wishes of the association.
In this instance the organisers have embarrased themselves by not listening to the sidecar association's repeated requests for two South Isl rounds, with predictable results.
And arent they a support class already anyway?

Fair enough, Why's that big fella?
Id be more concerned about what isint here rather than what is.
You can imagine how i feel when i read a thread about "production racing" where everyone needs to spend 6K on suspension then.

This is a little off topic but was there a time when Chairs raced at club meetings?

Looks like alot of fun, and to be able to share costs/fun would be a great thing too, trouble is there don't seem to be alot of meetings (nth isl anyway) to justify having the $$ tied up.

Yes, that was when you could own & run a reasonable one very cheaply.
Scrivy & i came third in the NZ champs in '87 on a machine that cost $1600, now you wouldnt even be in the hunt for much under 50k.
There is huge scope in this country for F2 sidecars, the same as Tracey & Astrid have. They are absolutely awesome to ride & dont wear tyres bits out as fast as other larger machines & use popular 600cc engines.
I think its time to seriously think about running off some new chassis to get the ball rolling.

Hmm.... The number of times I've crashed the 675 maybe I should consider turning it into a sidecar.
How do you think the 675 tripple would go in an outfit ?
