Next BIG Protest with StoneY and the Unions

This Friday is the Wellington "Motorcycle and scooter ride to work day", organised by MTA and supported by pretty mucy all the bike shops in Wellington.

The flier says there will be speeches too. Does anybody know if the 16th demonstration is to be mentioned or if at least the ACC issue is on the topics list? Would be a big shame to waste such a good opportunity in informing the Wellington riders about the event on the 16th.

er...how the fek did I get to be official photog???? Am trying to round up a mate who is into it for you StoneY. Will getback to you today hopefully. Will do the deed if he can't,but I thought my main contribution was fetching FattMax. and from what I hear that is a BIG contribution..lol

ps. have heard back from my mate and he cant do it,but knows someone who is a professional at photographing big events and will do the deed. He needs to find his phone number and then pass it on to me, who will then pass the information on to you....

Do you all realize that one of the changes being written in is that you will HAVE to use up all your sick pay and annual leave when your injured before ACC entitlement will even kick in?

I just had a thought about this. Does this essentially pass the cost of the accident onto the victim's employer? Without ACC cover, the employer would need to pay the victim their annual and sick leave entitlements and cover the cost of any replacement labour they need to maintain their workload. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Not to mention I'd be f**ked off at having to use up my annual leave in pain recovering from an accident rather than spending that time enjoying the thrills of motorcycling, windsurfing and skiing

Unsure on the passing onto employer side, as the leave is YOURS not his, but yeah, replacement labour/skilled worker etc is one I hadnt thought of...well spotted

But yep having to waste 'holiday' pay for recovery time is sickening
Its for your RnR to get out and forget work and recharge NOT for painful days of healing

BUT...as its a public 'park' and a official speakers corner under local bylaw (means you can soapbox there any given time) no one can actually STOP you being there there legally......
If we run out of room, I can see it opening up...BUT thats over 900 bikes before it needs happen...I counted last time.

Those 900 spots are gonna fill faster than a fast thing on its fastest day.

I'm kinda hoping your gonna need to park 9000 bikes....

So if my (broken ass) workmate uses up all sick and A/L they lose nothing. But a parent saving up some sick pay and A/L to look after the kids when they get sick(Mums and Dads) lose all if they need weeks off on ACC. Hmmm I have 26 sick days!!!(over five weeks) and don't intend using them but F###ACC your
not getting my sick days or A/L.

Yeah council have agreed to save the parks in Molesworth as well as some in ballantrae place
There are a couple of carparks in a church just round the corner too been suggested we ask them for 'overflow permissions'
