"Its a Girls Bike" and "I haven't ridden one" pretty much sums up your knowlege base IMHO.

What's wrong with the originals , a little stifling or, just a tad heavy ?

Both. And "a tad heavy" is an understatement.

The stock front heat shield drags on the road in right handers if you hang it out. I've noticed that many who don't change the exhaust system entirely tend to at least remove the heat shields from the stock system for safety's sake - the result is quite ugly. Slip on mufflers look like shit as well and don't solve the aforementioned ground clearance problem. A whole new exhaust system is the best answer.

Just make sure that if you go the new pipe route, that you budget for a decent fuel / ignition module and half a day on a dyno as well otherwise you'll just end up with a loud backfiring bike that runs like absolute shit.

I am looking to do this but choice and availability seem a bit limited here. Assuming I can make my mind up and can find someone to supply the system in this forgotten corner of the world, where do I go to get it tuned really well guys?
    Oh bugger

If you can supply, fit and tune a full remus system with black headers and a black can, you've got yourself a deal mate.

    Oh bugger

I think you will shit yourself when you find out the price of the remus and a few guys on the xr forum had there one's crack at the headers but I think remus sorted it for them and as far as I no the last remus dealer was in taranaki but no more.
