    It was me Allan...

This is my CBR (purchased like this and plate is clearly visible while about 20m behind bike and knee high level, mount is on hinge and has roler on the bottom to move slightly when hugger touches it)
Also bike has valid WOF from VTNZ.

3 months ago got pulled over and got $200 (+25 demerits..new "law") ticket for it....
No speeding, dodgey riding etc..i was on the drive way already when he blasted his lights on and this was the only reason for me being targeted and fined.
I have to add that cop was a utter motherfucking dickhead (Officer ACD868 if you ever have the pleasure to meet him - patrols North shore in undercover Maxima and was pretty rude)... but since we know most of them are its likely other ones would react to such a plate mount same way

its a mount made by company Comp. Werkes and sold legaly in NZ by Honda Dealers, (like Cyclespot in Takapuna who also fited this one to the bike who also told me they sold quite a few of them and none so far complained about ticket)

Obviously it was and honest mistake on my behalf since i got the bike this way and previous owner had no issues....and warning from the cop would have sufficed for me to change the mount but since he gave me ticket and wouldnt have a bar of my explanation....i now choose to continue riding with this mount and give the fuckers middle finger just out of spite!

Edit: it doesnt help the cause that cyclespot Honda choses to sell this mount on trademe advertised with words "HIDE your plate" (WTF is wrong with them!!!)

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-296386414.htm

I can honestly say that the spring loaded mount is purely to return plate to its orignal position as it rides up and down the hugger and has nothing to do with "hiding the plate" so realy thanks Cyclespot Honda

I will be going to Cyclespot to present their manager with the ticket and print out of the TM add and request refund for the cost of mount (got receipt from previous owner) because as far as iam concerned this TM add is likely cause for anyone with these mounts to get a ticket in a future.....

    **ok my rant over**

cool! now blat past a stationary and see if you get a ticket in the mail

im picking in most cases it'll be something they will ping ya on when they have pulled you up on some other misbehaviour and want to be cunts.

PS milo i will be interested to hear the outcome of your dispute, sounds like a bit of a joke from the police side of things to me.

(at least from the way you tell it hehe)

Hmmmm that probably has something to do with public safety, which everyone jumps up and down about when an offenders car crashes into an innocent victim. Fuck I'd hate to be a cop, damned if you do and damned if you don't.

    uhm...
    it seems a paradise...

here it has to be not more than 40° from the vertical, at the very end of the bike.
and it's much larger than yours...

actually, i can't blame the cops this time... if the plate is not clearly visible everyone can run away after having killed a baby...
at that point don't even put it on..

Well, since then i rode past cops few times (meaning they were right behind me) and nothing...so it feels like it was a "one off" because officer cunty had his period that day or something...
And i also wrote to our dearest police a letter saying that plate is clearly visible and there was no intention on my behalf to hide it, to which they replied that plate "was at the time of ticket, mounted at 45 degree angle and when supension is compressed plate is pushed further to even bigger angle..." therefore i deserved my ticket bla bla...
I dont dispute that but even when iam sitting on the bike it is still visible just fine...but it seems that police is coming down hard on any dubious plate mounting (therefore the new legilation with demerits added to plate offences)....i blame fucking "wannabe gangsta" boyracers for this and their retarded plates behind the windscreen on the dash

Also since the "incident" i redrilled the holes in a plate and managed to fit it approximately 1.5cm higher than on the photos (so hugger is definately not blocking the lower part of it) so will see....but still if i get a refund from honda i wil get different mount that sits higher or mounts to the muffler or something....

Yep, I got pulled over after the Kaimais in January and also got a ticket of $200 +35 demerits for “failure to display registration plate in the correct manner”

Explaining that the bike had been lowered by 38mm and this was my first ride on my new-to-me-bike, and that I did not realise that the plate was slighty “obscured” did not seem to matter to him – he simply stated that “we are sick and tired of you lot hiding plates, speeding and doing runners, we are cracking down on you lot”

He then asked why I had not pulled over sooner. I said that this was the safest part of the road for me to stop (pulled me over on road-works with lose gravel piled high on the sides of the road) realising that he was an angry little man I knew a ticket was to come so feck it “what are you doing pulling motorcyclists over in the middle of road-works like this anyway, it is just farking dangerous’!

Anyway… as he was writing the ticket, he mumbled something about applying for compliance – but didn’t write it on the ticket. I EVENTUALLY found out how to go about getting compliance – got him to write it on the ticket, put the fugly original spade and plate mount back on the bike, they took some photos and lodged the compliance request.

Got the letter stating “offense waived”, the next day the plate was mounted back where it should be…..albeit a little further forward to adjust for the now short-arse setting on my bike.

Got pulled up a few weeks later by a different officer – “yes I have been pulled up for my plate before, I moved it, they took photos, it’s on file, and I got compliance for this”

Have been past plenty of officers since with no issues at all.

I know for a fact that police are “coming down hard” on motorcyclist full-stop in the BOP, quite a few of us have been pulled up for little or no reason and told exactly that.

Where are the regs on displaying plates?

    I couldn't find any.

    Not in the http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/vi...n.html#general

EXACTLY - we couldn't find any either - the most "detail" that we have ever found is "most rear part of the motorcycle" / "You must securely fix and clearly display the registration plate at the rear of your vehicle" or some such BS.... a very grey area!!!

Yep, i didnt find anything either apart from some general bull about plates not being obscured of misleading....but nothing about 45 degrees, and not allowed to be hinged etc. so yeah ginga ninja just proved the point that some fuzz has some major hatred going against motorcyclists.

its not a wof thing, its a law thing, failing to display a registration plate/obstruction of plate.
