I got a filter yesterday however there were no extra O rings or shims etc with it. I may or may not need the shim however I wanted to go riding after the oil change & just wanted to be sure I did it correctly.
I will make some more enquiries about them.

    Thanks

It's just a squint. He always looks like that.

I've got a half worn E-07 front here for Schmitty if you want it Padmei.
Should be a bit betterer than the Pirelli slick.

    Hi igormortis
    Yep brand new shiny vernier.
I will measure tomm morn & see if I need to worry cheers
May be an internet hype but just want to make sure.

Thanks for the offer of the front Nordie but I may have something here hidden away. I want to have a go at changing the tyre with city mcs tyre machine- could be alot of fun or painful

Attacked some of the rust on the exhausts & spokes. Under there is some nice shiny metal.
Has anyone used a dremel with wire brush for tight places like between spokes etc? Not sure if I want to buy one if they're not that effective.

Spokes on beemers are Stainless steel. What causes the rust is dust from the brake pads. Not sure about the early rims but later models are anodised so be careful with the polishing.
Be careful when working with satainless and only use tools (grinders drills polishing clothes etc) that are specific to stainless. If they are used on normal steel they will cause the stainless to rust. So dont use steel wool

If the bike came with a shim (one of mine has one - from new), just re-use it. It is not the end of the world if you re-use the O ring or gasket (if fitted). This just means you will know to order one before next time.
I just get weary of these self appointed gurus holding forth from US based BMW sites. How did we ever get on before they came into our homes?
BMW 2 valve twins are easy and fun to maintain yourself, don't let these people put you off - enjoy!

I made an enquiry about that one myself. A project bike ! I sat down and added up the cost of what it would take to build it into what I wanted and went
