Oh you are right, there was no understanding. Just I never hear much of people 'condemning' others, especially when the facts are not known...

Wow great language guys, this thread in places reads like a class from Neanderthal finishing school!!!!

Personally I agree that people should wear protective gear all the time, however it is his skin, and depending on what the circumstances are would depend on whether I would consider the poor guy a plonker or just unlucky... for example if he was showing off and riding like a fool infront of mates then he is a plonker, if as some have suggested (it does not seem to be certain yet) he was just testing a bike after doing a repair then poor guy, might have done it a thousand times with no mishap.

What ever the circumstances however the facts remain that he is a human being and part of someones family and as such who are we to condemn him or wish him dead, he was only riding a bike for goodness sake not trying to destroy the world...

Well it is his skin, however we all pay to repair it!

In New Zealand it is us the tax payers who have to foot the bill to repair those who choose not to wear safety gear.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Very true, but in this case lets wait to see the circumstances, and as I said if he was just doing a test, well corners can and do get cut... I think I will still wait until all the facts are in

As for ACC they have us all anyway, maybe a better and cheaper? albeit extremely harsh system (and not one in keeping with the original idea of the system), would to to assess the safety gear being worn in an accident and if it was not up to "an approved standard" maybe the rider should be required to pay back a certain percentage of the cost of their treatment (if they survive)... and maybe I should not say things like that on here...

    we wasnt wearing a helmet=FACT

    I condemn him for that=FACT

people want to ride without a helmet?great,i dont want to pay for him/her to be repaired in hospital, and possibly need a lifetime of expensive care.

so whose choices are imposed on who?

This is one of the reasons why NZ is virtually bankrupt.do the math

Most New Zealanders would put forward the same argument against motorcycles in general.

Perceived risk is subjective. Be careful you don't hurt yourself when waving the big safety stick...

The guy has angel insurance - obviously being preserved for a higher calling. There is no better feeling, even though it's stupid, of cruising no helmet just open air, blatting through the country side - used to love it. But you do need to be younger and invincible.

Would that be the same one ACC got the wrong end of?

    That's a Gixxer thou fool.

And I think he was being sarcastic about your dumb comment on why the country has no money. I bet you the national deficit that bikers crashing without helmets cause less one hundredth the amount of rugby injuries in this country.

2nd ticket I ever got was $50 for not wearing a helmet, used to spend a lot of time around back roads and out in the paddocks without one

Anyone who thinks I'm an idiot for doing it can go fuck themselves, I can make my own decisions based on what I see as acceptable risk
