    ACC-cuts-due-to-surplus

ACC Minister Nick Smith says reductions in levies for households are being considered because of improvements in the Corporation's accounts.
The board would look at the issue at a meeting today, he told Parliament's Transport and Industrial Relations Select Committee.
ACC was expecting a $2.5 billion surplus this financial year, he said.
A savings of $177 million in ACC's non-earners account was forecast for 2011/2012.
"Work and Earners' Accounts approaching full solvency gives room to consider levy reductions," Smith said.

    Link broken??

And where'd this major surplus come from??

Shouldn't it be given back to those that made it?
The only stupid question is a question not asked!

The same place it always comes from Pinky; Businesses and individuals.

The reason ACC levies for bikes were raised was because the Government was attempting to change the funding model from a year to year basis with the surplus invested in the NZ economy in different ways to a self-sustaining insurance funding model where you amass enough capital to cover your liabilities in perpetuity.

What happened to that wee story?

They're trying to buy votes from "workers" .. knowing that the biker community is unlikely to vote for them ... so why give them goodies ...?

    ACC Profit Again

    What a pack of bastards.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/indu...-to-be-reduced

Quote: "Workers and businesses will get a reduction in their ACC levies after the corporation – labelled insolvent by the Government two years ago – bounced back with an expected $2.5 billion surplus this financial year.

ACC Minister Nick Smith said the surplus was $1.5b greater than the budget projection. It followed a surplus of $2.5b in the last financial year after losses of $4.8 million in 2008-09 and $2.4b in 2007-08.

"The turnaround in ACC's finances results from improved rehabilitation, reduced claim numbers and better management costs, for which the board and staff deserve credit."

Translation: "We told everyone we were broke so we could hike the price up on vehicle levies and stop paying for injuries by telling them it was degeneration and now we are richer than ever before but nothing much will change".

The electorate should target "Nick Smith" negatively (exactly the same way as he targeted the electorate for his own political gain), this coming election!

The trouble is he hides within the party vote, even if he loses his seat, he cruises back in on the party list!

These guy's are harder to get rid of than a dose of the clap!

Yeah its only the accounts that are being opened to private competition that appear to be in good order according to the Minister

So no movement expected on the vehicle accounts despite the fact the annual report from ACC showed more collected than spent (which we always knew anyway)

Nothing new to see here team...........
    Just ride.
