yes, how do you know that this is how they come from factory ?

apart from you being a "painter" by trade is there any proof that the fairings they have supplied are not the original factory fairings ???

Completely unacceptable. Whistle out if you want an advocate mate, what you paid money for is not what you got. Pity it is all verbal, but all the same, you said you wanted a black one, they said you could have one. The deal was put together on those terms. You said you did not want the fairings re-sprayed, but wanted new ones, they agreed. They said it would cost $x more, you agreed to pay. Seems really straight forward to me.

What you got is not what you bought.

Got on the phone to the dealer, he admitted mistakes were made and that communication on his behalf was shit. to cut story short, a favourable outcome along the lines of an extra 400cc of cross-plane engine as a replacement is on the cards. He came out to my house to apologize and discuss putting it right. Shows some balls really, and I commend him for that. Now to wait for the outcome.

Also good form that the OP resisted the urge to name and shame. Said shop no doubt has some sort of representation on here and they would have known about this thread.

Also on the OP side is that the manager was actually the Sales Rep on this transaction thereby eliminating the middle man. Sounds like a decent outcome is in the wind.

OP; Don't forget the extra licencing fees, insurance and running costs for the 1000 and all the other reasons you chose the R6 over the R1 in the first place. Don't be blinded by the 400cc of pure power and be sure you are making a considered decision that suits your position.

.... back in green and feeling great ....

No, but only because dodgy paint comes standard on Ducatis.

Reminds me of a discussion on the Ducatisti site warning of fake Termignoni cans.
"How do you tell if they're fake?"
"The fake ones have better welds."

And I'm glad your story had a happy ending.
