Two bikes, 2 cars (one race car with Rego on hold), 1 motorhome and 1 van. I am the only person in the household with a license too drive the race car, motorhome and bikes.

Jonathan Ericksen, (an actuary and ACC lobbyist) has just claimed on National Radio that the higher ACC premium rates for motorcyclists will change behaviour and result in lower ACC costs in the future - What!? how will that change the way anyone rides? I suspect that the only change is that people will abandon their bikes for gas guzzling cars.
I emailed him this morning asking "How do you envisage that this will transpire? Is it that you see that Motorcyclists will change their riding behaviour or maybe that car drivers will alter their driving so as to damage less motorcyclists or is it that you see the higher ACC costs will reduce the number of Motorcyclists on the road."
He has very kindly responded "Unfortunately I don’t think car travellers will look out for motorbikes nor cycles as well as they should. The higher cost of ACC will reduce the number of bikes on the road, hence my comments."
Now don't shoot the messenger, John is not the enemy. I think Jonathan is just being an honest commentator. He is not saying that this is a good or bad thing.
But I think he is right.
It is possible that the ACC levy increases for motorcyclists may have been partly influenced by a National Party agenda to reduce the number of motorcycles on the road in order to reduce costs and show an improvement in fatality statistics during their tenure in government.

C'mon Olds what did they expect to be the result of this rort on our lifestyle?
Mad Mike is a classic case mate, he was a legal beagle till the hikes came along
I for one would not follow his plan, my KTM and Ducati are way to valuable to risk the insurance etc but mate that old CBX650 of his ....hehehehe I loved it TBH
whats pissed me off is I had a gorgeous, short, pointed statement about demerits and revenue collection, spent 15 minutes in a freezing southerly on the Terrace, and had my 3 second soundbite edited to their needs to show for it
Bah...free press my ass.
Vote em out, restore the balance, StoneY for PM I say!!!!!
I would:
End sickness benefit entitlements for drug addicts (get clean or fuck off)
Support Solo Mums but make em train for the real world and get a job when kids are about 10-11 years old
Make Motorcycles FREE rego and FREE ACC levy due to being overtargeted victims of other motorists, and ensure we have free parks at our workplaces by law
Make being a Tory a criminal offense punishable by death
Make overseas residents with unpaid student loans outlaws devoid of the protection and rights of NZ citizenship
Free the weed (medicinally of course)
4 day working week (but 10 hour days get the fuck over it)
Employ 2x as many early childhood teachers as we have now, and double the number of primary schools in existence, pay teachers what they deserve
Ban unions
Make minimum wage for all workers 16$ph (but fuck me they better godamn work!)
Get rid of all politicians rent/property perks...(for fuck sake if you cant rent ya own apartment on a 140k salary what the fuck are ya doing running my country)
Remove travel perks for family of MP's
Free the weed (medicinally...oh yeah said that)
Make it treason to sell land, businesses or national infrastructure to any foreigners (except maybe our Aussie mates, they can take landhold leases but that's IT)
make it LAW that you have to have a class 6 license and 25,000kms on a signed and endorsed logboook before you're allowed to get a cage license
Finally......
Chain Gangs
Why pay labourers to fix roads, empty trash, work the dumps?

WRT insurance - this from State when I enquired about insurance and lapsed or on hold registration. I asked:
With regards to motor vehicle insurance - if a vehicle which is covered by a current State Insurance policy is involved in an accident and the registration of that motor vehichle is not current, would that be grounds for State to deny insurance cover? Could you please quote the relevant section of the policy in your reply.
In regards to your online enquiry :
If a vehicle has an accident when its registration is not up to date we would still consider the claim on a without prejudice basis.
If the vehicle in question was not at fault for the accident then we would accept the claim (if everything else was OK) as your vehicle being on the road was not causative to the accident.
If you think your vehicle was at fault then it is possible your claim would be accepted but we would need to discuss the exact circumstances with you to determine this.
In any case the best option is to contact State on 0800 80 24 24 and speak to one of our claims consultants who can help with your query.
Policy Wordings to take note of :
This is under Exclusions that apply to the whole policy:
Unsafe or unroadworthy
You’re not covered if the vehicle is being used in an unsafe or unroadworthy condition, and:
1. the condition of the vehicle contributed to loss or liability,
and
2. the driver should have been aware of that condition and that the condition could result in damage to the vehicle.

Yeah Pete my insurance company is the same in fact they told me NOT to pay the rego, quote 'fuck the levies, them bastard hit us in our pocket too'
I prefer to not rely on a loophole with my near 30k worth of machinery is all old friend but thanks for tabling that information for those as yet unaware your claim does not rely on being rego's BUT it DOES require your vehicles is up to WOF standards
Just ride.
This may not be correct, but if it is someone needs shot.
This info came from my son at Otago uni, part of his masters in economics.
ACC has bulk funds invested in property in Aussie, malls, land etc. The revenue from this was/is supposed to be used to fund normal ACC costs for us poor Kiwis. But over the last couple of years this revenue has been diverted to reinvestment and to pay huge corperate bonuses to some of the top ACC shiny arses. 2009/2010 financial year just over $1.4 billion didn`t make it back into the ACC coffers.
Someone is making a shit load of money at our expence.
