I thought DRIVE was superb. 9.5/10.

I think the disconnect is you went in expecting Fast and Furious 5.5, and its absolutely nothing like that. It has a quite noir-ish, and very 1970's feel. It reminded me quite a bit of VANISHING POINT in tone and some of the Steve McQueen films (BULLITT mostly): kind of that man alone, reserved hero type. Clint Eastwood-ish in a lot of ways.

I loved this and in fact it will be the only film I pay money to see twice on the big screen this year, probably.

Oh, and I'm a sucker for lame hollywood blockbusters so will be seeing TINTIN and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 these hols.

Harrison Ford was good in it.

"The Thing" - (the new 2010/11 version) I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't a remake of the 70's John Carpenter movie. Its actually a prequel if you like, finishing where the 70s movie started.

Nice alien effects, enough gore to keep you interested. We liked it anyway
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Taste Your Is Arse Your In ... please rearrange to suit .

Is that what I went in expecting? Having seen 1 of the Fast n Shite series and not viewing trailers or shorts etc... for any movies I go to see, that makes you full o shite... It reminded me of a B rate TV Series, not knowing what it really wanted to be and going nowhere very slowly. Even ranked against the Fast n Shite I saw, it still wouldn't rate over a 7 from me. Did the noisy bits wake you up and you thought the rest of the movie was as good as the bits you saw?

    Enjoy your second snooze.

I'll give TinTin a miss, not my thing, never has been, but will head out for MI:4
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Tintin is excellent. Lucky enough to win a couple of preview tickets, maybe getting a freebie makes it better? Nah it's brilliant

Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol, great best of the franchise

Brutal, don't watch it if you have a weak stomach - based on true story of a mass-murderer in Oz. Great acting!

Damn I'm feeling blue. I feel like watching something really violent... something.... violent.... sadistic.... Soon I'm going to watch A Serbian Film (2010).

Who's seen it? What is it like?

Edit: Don't watch it. It is not worth it.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Bridesmaids 2/10 ... I didn't realise they were allowed to make movies like this. I don't want to think about that 2 hours again, EVER. (couple of cheap giggles, hence the 2, but nowhere near enough to make up for such, er, no word seems strong enough really).

Green Lantern 8.5/10 ... Cool movie. Enjoyed it from start to finish, minus the mushy poop, of which there wasn't much. I wish I'd seen it on the big screen.

interesting. Do you find the same type of humour (THE HANGOVER, ANIMAL HOUSE, PORKYS even) funny when done by/about men?

I surprised myself by really enjoying BRIDESMAIDS. I really liked Kirsten Wiig, and the fat girl whose name escapes me.

We all know Ridley Scott is making a prequel to ALIEN, right? it is called PROMETHEUS. One to line up for I reckon. Noomi Rapce (Scandinavian star of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO is in it).

heh, I'm not fussed if it's men or women in the movie. The three you mention are completely different movies, all different situationally, which I guess enhances the humour of its context. A "chick" flick I did find fackin hilarious was The Sweetest Thing... and to a certain extent Miss Congeniality. Probably find if I went back to view the Animal House and Porkys again I'd have a different reaction to them

Each to their own as you mentioned earlier... although Mrs Mash was underwhelmed by Bridesmaids too.
