I even passed some people on the bike.

They were running, so that may not count

Quite a few were unsporting and ran past me when I was walking

Only missed 1 turn on the mtb section...

Spent a few mins trying to work out where the hell we were and where we were meant to turn so I considered it compensated for...

Can't wait for the results. I know I didn't get last and no walkers passed me either

    Wow, the results are up

    17 in the MTB event...

14th in first run, 12th in MTB, 15th in second run, for 12th overall and 4th in grade.

And I can still move (slowly)!
    Lactic overload but nothing broken...

    The Wheelers are road poofs.

They wouldn't go up Maire St, or Russell St for that matter
(Well, not with normal road gearing)...

Now to go up the Brook and see how far up to the TV transmitter I can get before blowing a gasket

Russell Street? I have a lot of not-so-fond memories of pushing my bike up that hill. The Taupo ironman has to be a piece of cake compared to Russell Street, we don't have proper hills in the central North Island you know
The road to hell is paved...

Yeah, shame about the hills. I hear when they were making "The Last Samurai" they had to whitewash one to make it look tall enough for snow...

    hehehe
Last time I did the round taupo ride I told my noob riding mates & wife that it was jst like going along the coastals by mapua. I had kinda forgotten it was a tad longer than that.

You could always do the Wanaka Challenge on the way to the DB. It's the same weekend. You got floats?

    V-brakes, reflectors, quill stem, bell...

    It's not a race bike

    Mine is much faster.

    I pulled the reflectors off...

    I love my little bell

43km loop today. From sea level up to 469m and back in time to watch the All Blacks...

    Crank Brothers Candy 2 pedals

Nice and smooth entry and exit.

Sometimes my 10 year old Tektro spd copies don't disengage and I spent 5 min with a stick clearing the clay out so I could clip in the other day. Should be no problems with the Candies...

Crank brothers are good stuff. The bearings and bushes in the pedals need replacing periodically, but the rebuild kits are fairly cheap.
The road to hell is paved...
