Dyna's and Tourers got the TC (twin cam) in 99, the Softails TC (B) (for balance shaft) in 2000. Dyna was the first 6 speed whilst still a 1450 in 2006, the other families in 2007 when they went to 1584cc. The FXDC and FXDB are still 1584cc, the rest (apart from CVO's and V-rods) are now 103" or 1690cc. All the same twin cam unit with long throw cranks in 'em.
Talked to my friend who works at Victory of Mesa
Gave him the list prices as advertised by Rolling Thunder for 2013 new Harleys.
Heritage Classic Softtail is listed as $37,990 NZD ($31,900 USD).
Mike says their price for the same is "about $17-18K USD".
Ow... fuck that.
Gave him the list price for the 2013 Sporty 48.
His reply was "Damn, that's pricey. For that money over here, you could almost get a Fat Boy."
Those are some painful differences, especially given the NZD strength against USD.
Might see if Victory Of Mesa wants to send one over in a year or so, when I got the spare cash.

You sure you read it correctly? Because that ain't their list price. $32750.00 depending on colour etc.
So if it's 18k US, turn that into NZ $'s and it's closer to $22000.00. Add $2500 freight to that = $24500.00, then add 15% gst to the combined total and you're at around $28175.00. You've now gotta chage the headlight (dips the wrong way), and sometimes the flasher lenses etc. Get it vinned for use of our roads...you've probably just blown another $1000.00 before you register it for a year, another $580.00. Getting pretty close to around 30k now. Is it really worth the hassle for 2k NZ?
I don't think so anyway.
Back when the Kiwi $ was 40 cents US it was still within reason to fly to NZ, buy as Superglide, have a 5-day holiday and bring the bike back for close to the price it cost to buy one in the US.
True.

Though by closer inspection they list a number of catalog parts that have apparently been added or changed.
I still agree with T's opinion on the matter though.

I was talking to a guy yesterday who imports cars from the US, (based in Gore of all places) and he quite often brings in bikes to fill up a container. I had thought of trying to source something that way. But for a small-ish saving and the "pig in a poke" factor it might be a pain.
One other point: The US economy is in the dunny, so LIST price out of a US dealer (particularly for last years inventory) might be WAY less than what they're sold for. It'd be worth asking, no?
