If I'm gonna have to go auto, I'd rather a sedan. Might take a look at this car then:

A little rough around the edges, but looks solid

It's definitely a D16B, so that's good. Leather looks pretty too
It is a Singapore import, so check everything works a few times

Not always run away spec, just check it over well. I've had a few mates with Sing import BMWs and most of them have been great, others have only had tyical BMW issues. (except sing E46s, they're 'orrible)

One more question, the auto box isn't a CVT is it?

    Thumbs up

Indy buddy, If it's the one with the Honda SOHV unit, then that is quite reasonable. However I seem to remember helping a mate with taking out his auto gearbox and the inexplicable computer fault codes were very difficult to lose. It could have been him, rather than the car, as he was always sodding about with things. I don't believe they are as crap as other Rovers, so that's a good sign. The Asian assembly issue might be a problem. Do scan the door seals and make sure they all open and shut precisely. Check that the aircon and heater work OK and let the fan cut in and out at least twice. Cooling and the coolant quality was a problem for my mate too. Hope it pans out for you.

D16Bs are bullet proof, got one in the Family with 350,000 on it and it's great, but you're totally right with the doors and whatnot, seals do perish in Singapore very fast (no, door seals, not the smelly cute ones) and it's not actually uncommon to have the heater core bypassed in Sing cars

A guy working for me bought a Jap import and at its first WOF after import, it failed on an engine mounting. He asked for the part back after repair. It was a seriously busted engine mounting that had been gummed up. Initial tester was complicit in the crime. He let it go, whereas I would have taken the part and reported the certifying garage.
