Looks like the G/S has stalled. But then again, there is two weeks to go. It good see the interest. I remember that the last Basic went for the $5000 buy now price. There aren't that many bike that will keep their value like this. Buy a new one and lose this much in two years, sometimes even in one. Parts are readily available and and they can be improved to no end, until they are nearly as good off road as a DR650.

Something that no one has pointed out yet is that the frame is braced.

There is also a 1991 R100GS which started with a low reserve. Be interesting to see where that goes.

The G/s frame, I've only noticed it, after it was pointed out. Interesting, I wonder what the history of the bike is.

Wow a torrential flood of airheads on the market.
I have thought a hack would be quite cool but I think I'd only have a year or so before the kids would get to that 'Too embarassed to be seen in it' age. Then all you could justify it was if you had a dog that liked riding with you. I can't really get past those wheels tho - so wrong.

That other GS looks ok if a little bland.

Look at my frame, can you see the plastic cap covering the swing-arm bearing? Compare this to the G/S on trade me.

FYI just been there, done that, with considerable sadness. My 1985 ex-police R80 RT had low km, was in original condition and sold quickly at $4,000. To be fair, the buyer hasn't picked it up yet and if he changes his mind it will go back on the market although that's unlikely. Anyway it gives you some idea of value for an original bike.
