After 2006, the Met Service has been paranoid regarding snowfall and these kind of extreme weather events... In 2006 the snowfall was like no other I'd ever seen. I was out working in it when it hit and through the night and it was amazing to see it fall so quickly and at such a low altitude.

After that event the Met Service took a fair bit of flack over the complete lack of warning back then. 6 years later we are now in a boy cries wolf scenario (Well I am after years of notification emails from the Met Service).

Its all pissing me off a bit cause I went to get some bread for me sammies and the entire place is cleaned out due to the now paranoid, media fed population.

WTF am I gonna put my marmite on now? Now that is something to worry about!!!!!!!

It's not really me I'm worried about, it's all the clown cagers that drive on it 2x a year and have a tendancy to do some sort of ballet impression all over the road.

    Which brings me to....

Cos they don't live on an island in the middle of the ocean where it's so variable? Hence why we get a couple bouts of snow a year, not 6 months constant. Also hence we don't use snow/winter tyres.

Practice makes perfect and we get fuckall really.

You should both be tied to a stake and burnt

I'm still hopefull for a decent snowfall overnight. I've got a new front knobby on the DR650 and I'm looking forward to some snow riding. Haven't had fun in white stuff since last year at Tekapo.
    Time to ride

Well I hope it makes up it's mind overnight because tomorrow morning at about 7.30 I'll have to decide whether to go to work on the bike as usual, in car or just stay here, crack open the laptop and work from home.

We are all looking forward to a big snow dump - supermarkets are being stripped around CHCH in anticipation of a lock down. Bring it I say.
same, bring it... and yeah HR told us to stay at home too, NOT cos they are worried about our safety, cos they dont wana pay us and we are to use holiday pay up, so they dont have to pay out so much at xmas, and lack of work (fucking govt, EQC, fletchers etc) crock a shit chch will never be rebuilt at this rate

Still bloody raining hard out here, I may get to manapouri today after all. Small squally snow showers during the night. On the news they were making it sound like we were all snowed in.

Well, it's a beautiful sunny Thursday morning in the Eastern Bay of Plenty - I had an excellent ride around the Ohiwa Harbour to work, with only a few isolated patches of light fog. The road was a little wet from overnight showers and the seal bleed was sparkling in the sun (slippery fucking shit it is) ... I saw two police vehicles as I was sitting behind cages waiting for a passing opportunity - so no worries there either.
