Around town I'd be getting around 14-15L/100km.

With the 600 I'd be looking at around 9L/100km.

Thirsty! geez the old landcruiser gets 650km+ for $140 & it's a 3B diesel, gets down to 500 once I start bouncing around the river during the fishing season. Even my A32 Maxima with a 3lt V6 get 650-700km on a tank of juice

Ouch! I get 8.6 around town, or if I hoof it around, I can get it just over 9.0. On a trip I get 7.6 average. Easy motorway cruising is 6.4. But I always have the air-con on.

The joys of an auto 2.0L V6, I guess. Hence why I'm keen on a manual diesel lol

Which car are those figures from?

I've been working on an old Fergy the last couple of days - it hasn't run for for nearly 10 years. Amongst other things the starter bush was flogged - we had a box of 9 in stock! Runs sweet.

I practically served my time on these things - not Fergys, but the Leyland 20, they had the old Vanguard engine in them too.

No, the 2.1 engine - used in the Fergy, Phase 1, II and III Vanguard, Triumph TR 1,2 ,3 and 4...and the Leyland 20. As an apprentice we used to look after a fleet of Leyland 20 vans, and they had some J2 and J4 vans too. They later replaced the fleet with CF Bedfords and a couple of JU250's. Both a big improvement on what they had before....specially for us mechanics, the old vans were not nice to work on.

Well you do know that I am a big 600 fan in that I owned one for a few years back in the 90s.

But this Hondumph I saw was a real classic and a pretty good car too:
