Shite is being generous. Mind you from what I see on TV the Avenger, and other Pommy shitters might become valuable. I just yesterday watched an episode of Wheeler Dealers and learnt a poxy Mk2 Escort can be worth more than 6k pounds. Not a Mexico or RS2000, an ORDINARY Mk2 Escort.

Really? I have a mate with a bright yellow mk1 that looks good but is still a fjord prostitute, his brother has one with a v6. Still a old crap car.
Don't you look at my accountant.

There's a recurring theme here Dave. You can't see the good in anything you don't or haven't owned, and found to be awesome.

The majority of vehicles on the road are far from perfect, you'll be happier if you learn to accept those flaws and look at the positives. Trust me on this.

I had a Morris Oxford-a 56 I think-Bench front seat with offset steering wheel so you could get 3 across, column change that was like a piece of rope when changing-Many of these were used as taxi's in Chch, some doing huge mileages.Mine developed a clonk in the motor, ran it for a further 6 months before deciding to strip down and investigate.Discovered broken crankshaft at one of the journals!!!Only an "Oxcart" eh?

I worked on all these cars in their day when they were new.We thought they weren't too bad then.
Like a MK2 3.8 Jaguar, pretty flash in its day, but now, not so much.

But then, look at the old bikes, ride them nowdays and they feel like buckets of shit .

Loved my Mach4 Kawasaki in 1972 but a gsxr1000 of the present is not in the same world.
Old shit ,I look at , but thats about it.

    Hey , I don't even look the same !!!!!!!!!

The boy's got a couple of MK1s, selling one now and is getting astonishing interest.

Thing is, they might have been crap ex factory, but they're very very light, and very easy to make handle quite well.

As a young apprentice in 1965 mumble ? The 3.8 Mk2 with overdrive was road tested at approx 125mph (200kmh) !!!
We had a tow car for the bikes in the 70's when the speed limit was ........140kph

I drive a van I know mediocre handling and am well happy to accept it if the compromise is worth it. That said last week we spent $1600 odd fitting decent shocks to the wiffs corolla cause it handled like a fish. Actually fishes handle real well so think of some other analogy.

But the Brit stuff was old crap. The jappas nailed them for good reason.
