Before anyone says "It's not BL!", yes I know... but the handling was on-par with the Leyland... Non-existent!

They probably thought ''What better use for the TR3 than to use it for a Van''....well, what better use for a Fergy engine really. I used to look after a fleet of Leyland 20's when an apprentice, we were wrapt when they repaced them with CF Bedfords, real high tech back then.

    Yes MUCH MUCH worse

    Note the narrow wheel track

Note the further inset of the front wheels

Allow for piss-poor cooling of a god awful motor

And a gear lever only vaguely connected to the gearbox

They are a pile of pooh from one end to the other

The Thames on the other hand were not too bad

The Commer seems to have conventional doors though some appear to have sliding doors of the cab.

Wasn't the Triumph Vitesse an inline 6?

Agreed... it was an awful vehicle to drive... if I remember, the Leyland went where you wanted to go only a good day and when the moon was in the right lunar phase...

Sphincter clenching might be a better description...

    but aren't brakes highly overrated?

I had a CA Bedford with a Vanguard 6 and box, a Cresta diff and a Marina dash. Cool bike hauler, hold the doors open with the little loop on the handle. Sold it to a BIL who put an MO Oxford grille on it.
