well I have always liked sodium cooled reactors, but not in my own backyard. but if Aukdum needs the power they can have it in their backyard.
looks like they are making a comeback
    https://www.terrapower.com/natrium/#...%20of%20sodium.
but considering what lies under Aukdum one does wonder why thermal does not make more sense then nuclear.
I can see why this wouldn't occurr to to R650r though.

Wind and solar is not subsidised in NZ, not even for residential installations. Another way we are falling behind Oz.

Co President Musk is in the news again. It seems nine different countries have expressed security concerns to the US government regarding Musk. SpaceX does not comply with normal government reporting requirements and that has so far resulted in three seperate inquiries. Musk himself does not have the same level of security clearances that other top executives at SpaceX have. There are likely two main reasons for that: his drug use and his unreported contacts with foreign leaders.

It's likely that Tesla, X and SpaceX will be happy their part-time CEO is busyng himself elsewhere.

Meanwhile over on the rapidly failing X... The "free speech absolutist" Elon Musk has shut down a prominent anti-immigrant group. All group members have lost their verified status.

it seems that Trump's tech bro donors want immigrants from India to operate their companies because there are insufficient qualified Americans. That they can pay immigrants less is a bonus.
Musk is currently busy trying to redefine what "America First" means.

When Musk bought Twitter he almost immediately sacked all the moderation and standards staff and boasted bout Twitter being a free speech zone. Of course it immediately became a hate speech zone. Two years later people have had enough and a suitable alternative being available they are leaving X in their millions.

Yesterday our time Musk posted this:
"The reason I'm in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.

Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend."

Today our time Musk posted this:
"Please post a bit more positive, beautiful or informative content on this platform."

It may just be that Musk has finally realised what an absolute cesspool he has created. I wouldn't count on it though.

I stand corrected. That is quite impressive then given the difficult locations to transport and install them here in NZ.

Another reason why electricity is so expensive in NZ. I hate to think what the maintenance costs are like for some of the wind farms.

A photograph for our time? A Cybertruck has exploded in front of a Trump hotel. The photograph shows the truck burning under the Trump sign. Sadly it seems the driver did not survive.

Not quite as moving as the self-immolation "ie the burning monk" from the Vietnam war.
But it does raise the question, remember when It was made public Fords cost benefit analysis on not having fords burn instead a a recall..
exactly like a pinto. You may also recall Ford like to run the fuel line on the exhaust side on cars like the pinto powered Cortina to save a few mm of pipe.
In sum, the cost of recalling the Pinto would have been $121 million, whereas paying off the victims would only have cost Ford $50 million. The Pinto went into production in 1970 without the safety modifications. In the memo Ford estimated the cost of fuel system modifications to reduce fire risks in rollover events to be $11 per car across 12.5 million cars and light trucks (all manufacturers), for a total of $137 million. The design changes were estimated to save 180 burn deaths and 180 serious injuries per year, a benefit to society of $49.5 million.

You can image Elon having the conservation about safety features it will raise the unit price $11 we can't have that.

It's being considered a possibly linked attack to the one in New Orleans. Appears it was filled with fuel canisters and fireworks mortars. Nothing to do with the vehicle itself. And if it was an attack, I doubt there's much reason to feel sorry for the driver if they were involved.

We'll have to wait a day or two. The story about the New Orleans incident has changed markedly in the short time since it happened. This story too may be subject to change.

True, but there's clear images of what was in the rear tray. I don't think it was to do with an issue with the truck itself. But time will tell.

Shot himself in the head before the vehicle exploded. I guess you could have sympathy for the mental state he found himself in but definitely nothing to do with safety issues from the vehicle itself. In fact, this article suggests that the structure of the vehicle limited the damage done externally.
