There's an adventure ride planned for Sunday. But I realised that I don't like group rides last time so leaving them to it

Plus I want to ride my 765. That'll be Sunday as I'll be on the lightweight on Saturday. It's kinda dumb but means I can ride alongside my daughter. Frigging pedals.

Heck yeah that's cool. Actually stunning in Autumn as the leaves are all changing and weirdly hypnotic.

Yeah, some of the best road of it's kind I reckon
It is especially magical through autumn, the amazing vastness of colours/shades of the trees filling the valleys etc some of the best I've seen.

I spent the first 13 years of my working life as a telecom/postoffice/ post office savings bank sparky based in wanganui we covered from waverly to horopito to summit of desert road, summit of gentle annie /naperi taihape one down to bulls and every little bit in between . Telecom had hundreds of country sets so we did pretty much every single road, a fiar bit of helicopter and jet boat work as well. There are countless rides and I knew every single bend of them.
A few have been fully sealed since i started in 1979 but not a huge amount, If i still lived there i'd probably get another adventure bike. You're right, the autumn was always stunning travelling. our furtherest station was over three hours drive from base too.

Wow, what a spectacular "office" you had during that period. What I did not realize before moving to the South Taranaki is that the majority of the sealed roads are just 1.25 lanes wide, so totally unsuitable for sportsbikes as no plan "B" available to take avoidance measures. You are 100% right, an adventure bike is definitely the way to go around these parts - esp as I have a 40+ km dirt road past my place, and it leads to a trail that takes you to another roading system that itself leads back into Waverley. Took the dog for a walk to drop off some incorrectly delivered mail to an address further along said dirt road, took a couple of photos along the way.

the second sign suggests an ADV bike may not be wise.

Ha, I'm not a farmer, but have been surrounded by them in various different parts of NZ for 26 odd years now. To the point I can speak fluent grass growing condition at any given season in the year. The farmers around here are of the familiar NZ ilk - absolutely top blokes that would give the shirt off their backs if they thought it would help - but do not under any circumstances be a dickhead and piss them off. In this case the sign is aimed at poachers shooting farmed deer as well as helping themselves to sheep and cattle and any farm machinery or fuel that catches their attention. Poaching the deer in particular is egregious with the amount of wild deer wandering around these parts - see them trotting around the cattle and sheep farm next door quite often at dusk - I really should look into getting a cross bow.

No that's not helping talk like that.
A crossbow bolt wouldn't take down a deer Shirley.
    But venison is extremely nice.

I went for my second ride since daylight saving started on Saturday. An afternoon riding in the very warm north Waikato, 27° when I stopped for lunch at Rangariri. (The cafe, not the pub.)

The R1 went well but I was a bit sore afterwards - a reminder that I'm not getting younger and need to ride regularly. I saw only 2 other bikes on the back roads.

The photo is Lake Waikare taken from the road on the eastern side, which is a fun ride.

    Nice.

Im Just finishing a Steak and Pepper with just a bit too much Pepper. Which turns out to be the perfect amount.

First ride on T33 front tyre. Rear change 1000km ago I guess and it like new.
Bike feels fantastic on fresh rubber. I do sand fronts lightly and went up Blue Mountain road (twice) as id rather scrub a front at 40km full lean than 100 when I got to the tukas.

Did the old loop through Martinborough and around but cut off at Millars Rd then back inward to avoid Carterton.

Arse a bit saddle sore which I don't usually get so bit concerned as on tour in 2 weeks.

Pretty warm here in Greytown. What a nice day.

The November ride is usually with about 10 of us. North one year. South the next. I've missed last two from being sick, so amped for SI this time.

With all the drivel and bitching on social media, kb no exception, this thread is aimed at being about riding our bikes, so please add your rides here .

Road. Actually for the first time Steve has arranged a split ride. . Most are actually taking gravel alternatives and we meet up. I missed the last two so I want to do road. Also for 5 decent days I don't want to get too fatigued so road will be easier on me. That also means soda water and early nights. That will be hard.

    . I did think I'll be a while since I rode the 450 so. . .

    Same day.
    Different ride.
    Different bike.
    Different direction.

Only on road but what a comparison.
