No pics,left the phone at home. Just the usual quick run round The Makara Loop,from Jville through to karori and then back to Jville. Quite chilly air temps(11) but the sun was shining and the road was dry and clean .A bit more water in the streams than normal(but still clean). Was gonna go up to Westwind again but went to Makara Beach instead, decided a coffee was in order,but the cafe was closed.

Rode the north Coromandel loop yesterday. Great weather for it, even the usual damp patches at this time of year weren't, such as 25A from Kopu to the summit. It's a different ride without traffic, there is time to look at the scenery and overtaking is quick and easy.
Repairs after the January floods are still ongoing, especially Pumpkin Hill north of Tairua. The roads are a bit bumpy in places but generally in good condition given the weather events of the last few years.
The ride back to Auckland wasn't fun with sunstrike and heavy traffic on the motorways. But well worth it for a great day out.

I have two velcro dots glued discreetly out of peripheral view on my black visor.
In my bumbag I have a dirt goggle strap with two bits of fluffy velcro. In seconds I can apply a 40mm strip to the top of my visor. Like pulling sun screen on a car I guess. Rubber traction bits on back of strap helps keep it in place.

I always run with two strips of tape at top of visor, hate that early morning glare. Works for me!

Adventure style helmet with external peak works well in autumn sun-strike , very easy to tip head forward and get your eye into the shade

Sounds good, I need to do something similar. SH2 from the Thames turnoff to Mangatawhiri is just the worst at this time of year as you are in and out of shade from trees or hills. Otherwise, you wait in Thames for the sun to set, which means a cold ride back to the SH1 junction. But worth it, as Coro is such a great ride on a fine day at this time of year.

I ended up riding from Wainui to Waiwera on Friday night to keep the sun behind me so I could actually see. Prior to that I had the worst sunstrike I've ever had, riding over the crest of a hill on Blackbridge Road and suddenly being totally blinded by the sun.
Usually, I can lean forward on my bikes enough that the top of the helmet blocks out the sun. But on this occasion, I was on the KLR650 which is too upright of a seating position for that to work.
I'm due a new helmet. Maybe I'll look at one with a cap on it specific for rides like that.

The sunstrike on Sunday was about the worst I have experienced. I have a mid-tinted visor that normally blocks the sun enough to see, but there was too much glare. Might be because the air is so clear at the moment?

Missing my roadbike rides. Next weekend if dry. Pop in to Boyles closing gig too on cards.
But Gladstone helped break the pain of not riding 765.
Rugged country. Bit steep in places. First loop was sketchy. 2nd loop awesome.

Intersting wee loop Monday/Tuesday. Dont know how it came about but I decided I would head for Akitio,west of Pahiatua,Stay the night at a the camp ground than make a northward loop out using some random backroads. Nice day Monday had appontment at 1pm out the Hutt o turnd up on the bike loaded up for the trip. Gassed up Gull Wingate and heded North. Right turn just north Pahiatua and headed for Pongaroa and Coast Road to Akitio
Was quite late when I got there,very nearly dark by the time I got the tent up.
