I always found thundercross shite. Their motocross track was just a single lane track around a paddock and the enduro track had dead ends and gates to open and livestock to deal with. Unless they've done some serious work on the venue then forget it.

Hey tht track is long gone. Try Thunder park (good with some jumps there now) and woodhill. Kimmys is alos a good option and really cloe to teh tron.

pity the onehunga track died. anyone know of any vacant land around auckland that can be ripped up? would be great to have a track in a similar industrial location.

YES PLEASE! Aucklanders need a local.
Id love too open a track in centralish auckland but no funds im afraid.

Surely there is someone out there with too much money???

Could be way out on my numbers but assuming we can rally together 1000 or less riders willing to put up $1000 or less each and buy a piece of industrial land in onehunga and build a track, 1000 riders = lots of man power for the hard slog. Id put in a grand to get a local track and wouldnt care if I didnt own it. If I ride for the next 10 years, thats only $100 per year, would obviously get lifetime free entry. New riders come on to the scene and get charged $20 per ride to cover rates, maintenance etc.

I like your idea. But why not just approach real estate agents with vacent lots and ask to use them until sold with a share of the profits?

you forget to allow for resource consent costs,
allow $200,000-$500,000 depending on how many hours you want to be open, and no guarentee that you will get it,

Hampton downs costs over $1,000,000 just to get a resource consent, with out land or devolpment costs,

thier are people working on a track in the auckland region that will be open more, but the land is not the hard bit, the resource consent is,

and it costs a lot more than you think to maintain a track, in captial and running costs, if you want to run it near any houses at all, (ie within 5km) you will need a watering system, allow $50-100 in deisel per day to do that, and you need at least a 80hp tractor to run the size pump you need,

to put perpective, the Pukekohe Club spend about 10-15k a year maintianing the watering system to run once a week during summer, and we do the labout for free, i know Ardmore spent 80K on tractor repairs over about 2 years as well,

it is not cheap to run a mx track,

this is probably a stupid question, but do you need resource consent if it is held indoors?
