Like donor was saying: Blood - just give it !
Me too. (O+) that is. I only found out by having the doc look up my maternity records. Haven't gone for a long time, in fact last time I went they turned me away for being too scrawny (OMG, that must have been a long time ago...) Keep meaning to do it but never get round to it. So, I will bend over for a series of kicks up the backside and hopefully they'll propel me to the nearest clinic!
    Good on you, you regulars
I guess it helps when you don't have an aversion to needles.

Was donating back in France, then came over here...and been told to, please, not giving my blood since i was French and lived (obviously) more than 6 months there in the 90's...

Does anyone know why? Is it only because of the mad cow disease? (bloody rosbeef lol)!

They won't let me do plasma, they only want mine as whole blood

Used to go all the time - that is until they discovered I have a nasty disease and infected a whole heap of people.
Now they don't want me any more for some reason.

Yeah, I asked them a while ago which was actually best for them, and they said, if you can, please do whole blood, as quite a few bloody products are made from it.

Re not being able to donate, its a double edged sword. NZ has one of the highest quality blood supplies in the world, but thats partly because how stringent they are. Less stringent, less quality, but more supply.

NZ also doesn't pay for blood donations (I believe the US does pay its donors) which also lowers the number of donors, but also reduces the number of "undesirables" aiming for the money instead.

To all you blood givers - you fucking ROCK!

To those that would, but can't - you still fucking ROCK!

To those who are too goddam soft and squeamish about a tiny needle - HTFU!

One of the old salts I worked with once apon a time was saying that in the UK they used to give you a pint of stout in exchange for your pint of blood.

    Sounds like a good scheme.

BTW I give any time they will take it from me.

Used to all the time, seems you have to make an appointment down here and its only at selected times which always seem to be during working hours so I never get the chance to now.
