Bikers bleating about bikers

To be sure. many many things can go wrong. Like any other manoeuvre, allowance must be made for them.

Nonetheless (an I am NZ motorcycling's Nana of Nanas) I do overtake quite often in corners. Usually cages, but there have been odd occasions when it's been a bike.

The problem with "wait until the straights" is that there is a certain breed of driver (and, more rarely, rider), who will crawl tediously through the windy bits, but as soon as a straight is reached , his foot goes down (or gauntlet goes round) and he takes off as fast as he can. And often they are driving quite powerful cars (or riding quite powerful bikes) , so that overtaking them on the straights is a difficult (and most illegal) thing. Especially if one happens to be riding a lowly powered 250, or chookchaser. Or a huge tourer. And so it goes, creep frustratingly through the corners, watch him blast off into the distance (gee he can go fast in a straight line), and catch up at the next windy bit for more frustrating tail end charley duty.

I've noticed an upsurge in this behaviour in the past 6 months. Much of it from those who were weekend wallies, and have now moved onto their bikes more full time - probably to save gas.

Maybe if you took more time checking your mirrors, or just minding your own business, then you wouldn't be having these 'problems' that you seem to having

Marty you sound like you might be one of the riders that do these stupid stunts. Is this right. If not why are you trying to cover up for prats that give riders a bad name.
On kiwi Biker they are trying to promote safe riding. Riding a bike on a public road doing wheelies with no helmet is a just case.
Is it safe NO.
is it Legal NO.
is it stupid YES.
If you just want to come on here and bitch about riders that care about safety and trying to get fellow bikers to wear the basics in safety.

actually porto, i tend to ride alone, and give others slower than me (very few are anyway) a wide berth, as i would expect others to do to me. i have had to scrape more than my share of bad luck off the roads of NZ, and i don't really want to do it any more if i can avoid it.

Racing rules? What does that have to do with road riding?

I do my best to stay out of the way of people travelling quicker than me, car or bike. I try to extend my situational awareness rearward as much as forwards. It's saved my bacon a couple of times when braking for an unexpected hazard.

You're sharing the road with other people and if you are holding them up you are contributing to their frustration, possibly adding to the likelihood of them doing something silly to get past you. If you don't know what's behind you, you shouldn't be on the road. Sharing. SOmething motorcyclists don't do as well as they'd like to think they do. Really good at toy runs. Really bad at yeilding a metre of space to let someone past.

On the track anything goes. Elbows, feet, yanking someone's kill lanyard - all "fair" play. Until you get back to the pits. Then it's all on.

sorry about that marty. Its just who I am and how I feel.
I love riding but it does get to me seeing plain stupid acts with compleat lack for safety.
Dont get me wrong I love watching guys & girls doing wheelies. (wish I could still do them)

Haha it wasn't my choice there (well i guess i could have moved up) i was a last minute entry and let Peter stick me wherever ! Bloody good in that group though, SFA bikes in there so had a clear track most of the time so could focus on my stylez rather than racing !

In my view also if you remotely treat the road as your personal weekend race track your an egg and will probably kill yourself eventually or someone else. Roads are public, racetracks are for racing, pure and simple end of story, to think otherwise youre either kidding yourself or proping up your brainless view that you can do what you like when you like just because youre a biker WTF, youre just another road user with the same rights as the guy in a clapped out cage, get over it
