I'm keen to to do something like Bronte Rd, Old Coach Rd, Rosedale Rd, Jacobs Ladder, Sunday Creek, Sherry River Rd then Christian Creek and back via Wakefield Woodstock Rd and Wairoa Gorge Rd on the 28th. Ride is partly a checking out the DB1k route and partly checking out Christian Creek Rd which looks like a bit of fun.
Any of you fellas from up this way care to join me?
Cheers R

Yep, Christian Creek is fun, quite overgrown in parts, but a wicked track. Some trees down over the track (last time I was there you could ride under/aound them) and access is only one way (private forestry road, locked gate at Wangapeka end. Access only from Sherry River road.
I'd love to join ya but only in the afternoon, I'm working until 2.00pm....maybe I could meet you in Dovedale or Tapawera and do the last half with you. If it gets dark it'll be good practice for the Dusty.
Any and all day rides considered, keep me in the loop.
Cheers,
Colin

Meet where and what time? I am keen and it would be a good chance to catch up. I thought i had been most places, but apparently not.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
I'll be in on monday if anyone is out and about, have to visit the chiropractor so im up for a bit of 'Bulwer to Nelson via Maungatapu' therapy.
Came over the Maunga this morning and it was dry but it wes pissing down out our way with lots of slippery clay, woo hoo
Thanks for the info. Was planning on going in from the Sherry end but didnt realise that you cant get out.
Huh where? I can find a Panic Mac Rd off Sunday Creek Rd but cant see how it connects with spooners. Can you flick me a map or gpx?
I'm guessing that a 9am start is about early enough as I recon that we will travel about 300km. Where do we all meet up, Mapuaish or the intersection of Bronte and SH60 or somewhere else? Hopefully you locals have a good suggestion?
I know a little about this part of the country but don't know which of the rd's through the forestry are restricted access (seems not all are - Sherry Rd case in point), so if anybody else has any good ideas for Tui back to Nelson ish let me know. I'm looking at getting from Tui to SH6 via Donald Creek Rd and Elvys Rd or out to the south of the Hope Saddle via Big Bush Drive. Also looking for ideas for Kohatu back to Richmond (Nordie's Panic Mac to Spooners?)
