STi notches up another 3 credits.
    A sneaky mobile camera...
A weird activation that kept on hinting of "something" out from a Donut shop... and low and behold a nice man in a car appears from over a hill towards me.
Another detection of at least 45 degrees off of "straight ahead".

    Cheers Mr Bel!

    Sound or sight?

I opted for a visual warning for the RX65 rather than a screamer that not only advertises to all within earshot that you have a 'pig sniffer' but is also potentially embarrassing in city riding.

The photos show the set-up I have which uses red superbright LEDs powered from the earphone jack of the detector. Simple but effective - definitely catches my attention!

I don't ride after dark usually but for night riding the display from the detector would probably be sufficient as the LEDs would nuke your night vision big time

    Mine saved me on Monday.
Was idling along looking at the scenery out rural here on a long straight, no cars around.
Get the chirp, KA band word in the ear. Look at speedo, 140, look up, nothing, slow down to 100. A couple of ks away round a corner comes 2 cars. Second car was mufti Commodore.
    Thanks Mr Beltronics.

I don't think it was the Beltronics you beat, more a case of beating complacent drivers that think it is OK to break the law as long as the detector is quiet. The detector is merely a device to remind you that there are cops about and to watch your speed - if you regularly hoon about at speed well over the limit you are likely to get done eventually.

I haven't had a radar detector for many years, but I used to a while back. I have received tickets while the radar detector was on in my car, but saved more money then the detector cost from the tickets I didn't receive. I once got a ticket when my speed was measured by digi-strips (no longer used), but it certainly wasn't the detector's fault!

Yup, maybe true but the end result was the same - and why buy a product and ignore it's whole resone'd'etre????

And also same here - my one speed ticket was the result of Digitector strips.

Well, you can drive/ride at around 120kph and slow when the detector warns you of nearby law enforcement, but you still have to live with a ticket when snapped by 'instant on'. At least at 120 the fine & demerits wont be too severe.

If you rip around at 160+ all the time and rely on the detector to save your license - you'll soon be walking! (or dead/injured)

im putting my neck out for my V1. catches them approaching from almost any angle. gooooooood long distance ahead too. from behind its ok but not the best (but hey its for a car mid mounted for a clear view not meant for right in front of my fat arse. $940 cost me and has kept my tab alot lower then it should be, at the same time I only do 120-125 on the motorway so the second it goes off its on the picks and man i've usually gone past the cop at 100 dot on if hes sneaky and around a sharp bend poking it through the trees.
