I hope they crash well, next year only one bike per event allowed, if I understood the new rules correctly.

Its going to be close racing no matter what. Stoner is fast, but rossi always is willing to go that little bit more too win. Cant wait!

Jeez, you're good with the obvious.

If if we ignore the stellar achievement of being able to win on 500's 990's and 800's - how many 125 or 250 Titles has Stoner got?

Yup Rossi is one of the greatest ever but a lot of it has to go down to Jerry Burgess. Everyone lords Rossi's skills but it's most definitely a team sport, as shown by Bayliss who only won his MotoGP race when he took his WSB team with him for the event. Rossi is an amazing rider but Burgess deserves more credit.

Stoner is smart. He learns and then applies his learnings. He won't make the same mistakes and Rossi/Burgess/yamaha are going to have to pull finger to be anywhere near him.

The scary thing for Rossi fans is that this test was at one of the tracks Ducati has always struggled at.

I'm a Rossi fan but I have to acknowledge that Stoner is brilliant. Apart from Rossi/Stoner battles I'd just love to see Hayden stick it to Honda and the slimy Puig/Pedrosa partnership and be right in the mix.

See..now that's where I've got ya mate! Stoner was never blessed with factory equipment from the word go as Rossi was. Soon as he was...hey Presto...a Moto GP world title beating Rossi in only his second year trying!

Now you're such a Rossi fan obviously...and don't get me wrong...I've always stated he's one of the best we've ever seen. But Rossi took two years to win each title...125/250/500. Even Pedrosa won the 250 title in his first crack mate! Is Rossi really that good...or has he simply had it easy as far as opposition goes? Do you think he'd foot it with Doohan with a mashed up leg? Would he have beaten King Kenny with a broken back? Those questions can never be answered. Just like you saying no one can ever win 125/250/500/990/800 titles. It's guess work mate.

Its relevant and you know it! Its not relevant that Valentino might be a boxers guy, but its relevant that Valentino's experience of riding (and winning) 5 different world GP classes gives him an advantage over Stoner that he can not even try to match.

Its not saying that he could have never one that class, it's saying he never DID win that class.

Firstly, Rossi does have a 250 title.

He also has an incredible winning ratio.
The man has eight titles from 12 and a bit years on the circuit.

    Stoner has one from seven.
If he wins another 11 or 12 titles he'll have the same ratio.

Indeed he does. And as I've said...you'll never see me say Rossi is anything other than one of THE best we've ever seen. But he's not the fastest now.

How many people love Revvin Kevin? Was he not one of THE fastest we've ever seen on two wheels? Did he bin it far too often when he didn't need to? Fuck yeah! But man...was he fucking fast on the day or what! He won a single world championship...but people call im a legend! (And in my eyes he is a legend). My point is...and always will be that Stoner is THE fastest racer you or I have probably ever seen. Spies will be the next one.

One more thing seeing as you love stats so much.

Q: What's the ratio of Rossi vs Stoner for the Moto GP title when they've both been on factory equipment?

    A: 1-1.

Pretty good for a 22 year old.

I'm not sure what yer trying to say here (and I suspect that you may be unsure as well). What do you mean by fast? Lap times?

By that definition, I'm in no doubt Stoner is fast, and may be the fastest on his day. But it's often not his day (particularly when Vales about).

Measured by race wins, and titles, Rossi is the one of the greatest ever and Stoner isn't on the same page.

Come back in six or seven seasons and we'll talk about Stoner being fast.

    Stoner doesn't race Rossi.
He races Stoner, and on several occasions last season, it showed.

ummm...right. the past is a funny thing in how it happened. as in been...gone.

Stoner is faster than rossi around most race tracks period...you can't compare the past with now...its not relivent...both on factory bikes [no one else with a Duc is quick mind]...both well sponsered and supported. and currently Rossi is left wanting. You can't argue that...ITS FACT.

But the fact that stoner fell off a couple of times last year Lost him the championship...Rossi didn't win it...Stoner lost it.
