Sorry for you Tris, been a bit of a love/hate relationship for a while now eh....

Had a great night, tho I get caught out by the doubling in HP from the old BMW and make life fun when I chop down a gear & lock up the rear wheel!!

....not a good look taking off with the side stand down outside the pub either

Well I didn't notice anything like that from a few bikes back behind you, but the sound was great coming from your Duke, the Guzzi & the Daytona in front of me!! Music to my ears.

I was just enjoying scrubbing in my new rear tyre heading up to the hilltop in both directions.
If it ain't broke...fix it till it is!!

Woop woop about a month and $800 later and the bike's going again! 800k run in period though, not taking it over 7500 is less than fun especially with all the new grunt it has. But we shall overcome.

I'll be Wednesday with bells on though actually coming on the full ride is debatable. Depends how much I've gotten through it I guess.

Dave while you're at it could you pick me up one of those RC8 thingamajigs? Don't have the money to pay you back, though I can give you a 1998 RG150 in top condition*

I'll just relay you the worksheet - you can work it out haha. Might be able clarify or expand on some things but yeah just ask away.

    Stuff:
    - New piston
    - New rings
    - Circlips
    - Base gasket
    - Powervalve gasket
    - Exhaust gasket
    - Coolant
    - Spark plug
    - Spark plug cap
    - Rebore
    - Gearbox oil

It appears, and we're unsure on this so don't quote me etc, that a circlip was fitted incorrectly last time and that the piston has rooted itself pretty well over time. Have the old piston sitting around now. Makes a good paperweight!

And much credit to Duane and Adrian, really helpful, really clear - I'm well impressed. Will be back there for sure!

where are we going this week do I hear you ask?

it's a big sloppy, slippery, damp root....wets' route to be exact, I can't vouche for how good wets route is as I have never been for a ride.

...never hear the end of that one

    Wets' Route

Wets' route takes us up dyers pass, along most of the summit road, be careful this is a challenging slow road with some patches of shingle and rubbish surface - take it easy and you'll be fine. We then drop down into and through lyttelton around the bays, the roadworks signs have been removed but the surface after govenors bay is still pretty slushy. We'll stop at the Wheatsheaf for refreshment, then after that you can flick over gebbies or back your own way (personally i'll be doing gebbies pass)

    Re-group points:

    1. Sign of the Kiwi, on the right at the top of Dyers Pass
    2. Top of evans pass before lyttelton
    3. Wheatsheaf Tavern

I will remind you this is a tough ride, I believe Jmemonic and Phoenix wont be along this week, Fireliv has asked to take up TEC.

    Google maps linky

    SEE YOU THERE!

    Prepare for a whinge...

I've just bought a bike, a little wee GL145 and wouldn't mind coming along. Unfortunately I have work Thursday morning. I'm a baker I start at 3am. WHY does it have to be wednesday night? Sunday or Monday night would suit me better.

    Whinge over...

I have a few leiu days owing. I'll just have to use them up. Then there's the 11.5 sick days. WOOHOO I'll see you guys

    HOLY SHIT IT'S GARETH!

great to see you on wheels mate

the ride will probably finish up before 10, most weeks there's someone who has to take off early and if you want you can drop off from the ride (just make sure you let us know) at dyers pass or even the tunnel

be wicked to see you there mate, drag your brother along too!

Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!
