    What a Bastard!

Anyone here know these folks personally? Could we kick in for a card or some flowers? Maybe take out a contract on the 4x4 driver or something useful like that (I'm sure this person is equally upset - now)

What a tosspot, hope they make it ilegal to use cellphones in cars, they just as distracting as changing a radio station. Big sympathy for Brian an his wife. Just makes ya feel ill when ya hear about bikers being knocked off by a complete idoit.

Your'e so right. It's amazing that the Govt hasn't already banned cellphone use. They argue that they "need more research". Yeah, right. Already many countries have banned ALL cellphone use, including hands free. Studies from the US and Britain have proven that using a phone whilst driving is as dangerous as driving drunk. Some major multi-national companies have banned company car drivers from using cellphones at any time. They wouldn't do that for nothing, as it causes problems for doing business, and that costs money!! So, they must be convinced. I note that some are also demanding that staff drive cars with their lights on 24/7. Wonder where they learnt that from eh!!!?
It's a hard road boy.......so try not to land on it.

Televisions are banned in cars if the screen is where the driver can see it or the controls are where the driver can adjust them - yet radio/tape/CD/MP3 controls are where the driver can adjust them. Why are not car stereos also banned?

Or why didn't the dickhead adjust the radio by feel? Surely a bit of practice in the driveway with the engine off and he should be able to change stations, pump up the volume etc without taking his eyes off the road.

Re: recent related comments about cellphones in cars - been nearly hit quite often by fuckwits on cellphones - bad enough when they're talking, let alone texting. Honestly, if I get hit by some idiot using a cellphone while driving, I'll take it off him/her, forcibly if need be, and shatter it against the tarmac - then use the court case to explain to the judge (in simple words, veeeerrrryyy ssslllooowwwlllyyy) that cellphones need to be banned from cars.

The guy who hit those bikers should have his vehicle confiscated - after the radio has been removed and inserted where only a trained proctologist could ever find it.

    Angry

Problem with this accident, no fault of biker, expensive on going rehab with prothesis etc life long costs if not to him to ACC. As I understand it the costs met by ACC ,who will recover the cost through the bike levy portion of ACC rego costs. It wasnt even the bikers fault. , ,

I just read about this in the local rag this morning. Bad bad news. Apparently it happened on the road out to Awhitu where the couple had been visiting some friends.

I ride that road quite often and have come across some real effing useless drivers out there including centre lane hoggers. Also, in the evening heading out the sun is really blinding so please take care everyone. To top off the morning, my Dad said he heard on the radio about some bike v truck over on the north shore.

Yeah, there's another thread about that - lane-splitting biker was cleaned up by a rubbish truck (unfortunate pun not deliberate).
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Yes, that's a nice road for a ride, but seems to have a lot of "this is *my* bit of road so everyone else can fu*k off" type drivers. Expect at least half a car over any given centre line.

That's why I never take a racing type line on those roads. (not saying that the victimn was )

Like someone suggested- is there any way (hello moderators!) we can set up a thread where we can post messages so it can be printed out and given them?
I suppose there's nothing to stop us just starting a thread of course- what do you all think? My first thought was 'what about getting a huge card and putting it in Wellington Motorcycles so everyone can sign it?' but really that's sort of missing the point- something quick and from so many fellow bike riders around New Zealand (and elsewhere) would mean so much more.
It's not going to change what happened, but at least they'll know there are a LOT of people who care.

    Ok

    Everyone that wants to

Post a message here with your name (or not) in the next few days.

I'll (or some one clever) cut and paste it into MS word all in different fonts to seperate em out and email or post it.

    OK? (insert better idea here)
