    Unhappy The RG seized

Trying to keep up with my mates on their faster bikes, I was ringing it's neck at 140k (so I had no hope keeping up) and after 5 minutes it couldn't handle it much longer and froze solid. I pulled in the clutch quick enough so I didn't skid the whole way.

Damned shame. I was getting a new bike end of this week, that's as long as the RG had to last me. Murphey's law huh? And I had planned to race it so if it did last me untill then it would've seized on the track anyway. Going to get to work late after school this week.

Think the big end went. The bearings would've been getting old. I've got the second RG's motor to put in, I should be able to get racing on that. Don't have a motor for that bike now... anyone got a 450 MX engine lying around?

Bugger. Seized at 140 on the road.

Usually a 2 stroke locks up (nips up as they say - seizes of a sort) but as soon as it cools down you can usually fire it up again and away it goes. So if yours isn't doing that then something really serious has happened.
    Cheers

Yeah, one of the guys that works at Wellington Motorcycles stopped by (he was out for a ride) to check if I was ok. He told me that. The bike had been sitting for about half an hour when he got there so he thought it hadn't heat seized

I just double checked, the kick start is still solid

Might've dropped a powervalve into the cylinder. I know my RG nearly did that at 40,000kms had to get 2 new powervalves. Take the head off and have a looksie.

And now one of those new OEM ones is stuffed, about 4,000kms on. I think the ports in the barrel for mine were too loose and allowed excess vibration in the valves. Been repaired but still annoying.

Supercheap oil can't have helped your chances though mate. Regular checks of the powervalves is a good idea for RG's i'm thinking.

I had been meaning to check the powervalves. But I don't think it was them. I would expect the crank would still turn over and you'd hear the powervalves tapping around inside the cylinder. Plus the engine just bogged down, there was no metal hitting metal really hard noise like a powervalve hitting a piston

    Oh that's shit.

On the other hand, spare motor, and a single cylinder MX motor would be fantastic in that other frame

And! you got a VFR! Shit, you said you'd got a 400cc bike, and you wrote `Nighthawk' in your profile, I thought you'd gone and got a CB400N -- was wondering why until I read this. Congrats!
