    Personal mechanical tutoring

As a mechanic I find myself spending a bit of time working on other peoples bikes. This got me thinking, it's a much better use of my time to teach people how to do work on their own bikes.

It doesn't matter how much or how little you know about mechanical things, between us I'm sure we can give you the knowledge you seek. From checking tyre pressures and chain tension, through to full engine rebuilds, electrical gremlins, brake overhauls, and everything in between.

I'm offering this to anyone who wants it and can get to my house, all I ask is a contribution into my race account if you gain the knowledge you seek.

I'd prefer one on one sessions to make sure it is specific

    great idea Gav,

so I guess your more recent fundraising scheme is not going all that well ?

shame ,I thought you were onto a winner with the escort thing.

Sounds interesting ... I know just enough to truly balls something up if I try it. Luckily, I've also learned enough to pay someone else to do the work for me. However, I'm always keen to pick up new skills and learn how to do stuff properly.

Problem is, I have a new bike that's still got 18 months of warranty left. My little CBR250 is a little older, but in perfect working condition ... other than a slightly sticky choke cable. Have you got stuff that needs fixing yourself, or would you prefer to teach people on their own borked bikes?

I'd rather teach people on their own bikes, as then the knowledge I am giving is specific to each individual.
I'd rather not touch anything which is still under warranty, as I do not want any legal grief should anything untoward happen.
My first bike was a CBR250RR so I have quite an intimate knowledge of them

Yeah, that's about the sum of it.

I'm after a bit of hands on come and check what I've done advice when and if I should get stuck. I want to ensure it all goes back together nicely.

Let me know if you need me to come around Surfer, it sounds like you've got it under control though.

I'd appreciate it if others didn't hijack this thread to offer themselves though please
