Short notice ride for those interested.
This is basically the same as a previous Maha Ride, and is targeted for:
- North Shore Cruiser Riders group,
- Newer bikers and KB members wanting to network and learn in an encouraging environment,
- Cruiser riders and enthusiasts keen come along to do a group ride at road legal speeds.
Toaster enthusiasts are welcome too (I just had to put that in there).
TIME: straight after the All Blacks game ends (guessing by 1000 at the latest?), grab ya bike and aim for approximately 1045 for 1100 (11am) departure.
START POINT: BP Petrol Station at DAIRY FLAT State Highway 1 (on left - north-bound lane entry only).
Meet in the carpark north of the Burger King at the BP Petrol Station in Diary Flat off SH1 - which is south of the Silverdale off-ramp.
Using that northern-end of the carpark will keep the bikes well clear of the petrol station traffic and keep us in their good books.
ROUTE: Suggest north to Silverdale exit then left onto SH17, right onto Pine Valley Rd then right onto Kahikatea Flat Road all the way to SH16 Kaukapakapa,
Right onto SH16 to Helensville (5 min stop outside Mitre 10 on the far side of town pick up other riders, adjust lace g-string from butt, do hair in mirror etc etc ) then off toward South Head.
Turn right after a fair while towards Shelly Beach - go all the way to the end and ride into the ocean.
Or you can park in the carpark prior to the wet stuff and have a quick lunch and chat at the little cafe there.
RULES: Keep under 110km/h and keep rider behaviour within the law so highway patrol can leave us ride in peace.
LUNCH - Shelly Beach cafe (basic but it will do). Get petrol at the BP prior to departure. If you are really in need and have wicked bad fuel economy or forget to change out of first gear all the way there, then there is a Shell station in Helensville.
IN CASE YOU ARE RUNNING LATE - MY NUMBER (no longer used). The chances of me answering it are low. It's really just so you can all send me rude pictures.......
