    Playing with pivot. animation.

So I just got this app called pivot. Its freeware and I am no artist but had a bit of a play.

Can export to gif but it changes the colour to basic colours. Is this a limitation on gif or a limation on the freeware program?

Attached it the gif I created.

Anyone got any suggestions for better programs? Freeware or very very cheap as I only mucking around with it. nothing serious.

It's a limitation of the GIF format...

Also as far as i know you cannot animate BMP's of JPEG's which happen to be the other common distributable formats.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

There's minor support for animated PNG kicking around -- APNG or summat. You won't find much that plays it, but it's probably a good replacement for the semi-proprietry (and ancient) GIF standard that's been kicking around since the dark ages. 256 colours didn't use to be a limitation when your monitor could only display 16 anyway.

What you probably want is to play with Flash animations. Official Adobe Flash or whatever it's called these days is pretty pricy, but you could always pirate it, that's what most people seem to do heh. I think there's a few open-source Flash apps kicking around too, or at least freeware.

There is a function in the Illustrator/photoshop package that allows you to make animations with no loss in colour quality. I'll dig it up for you Lance. I use it to make piss takes for the drift boys

sweet. bear in mind I have the attention span of a kawasaki rider so it has to be easy to use and I dont have photoshop.

As for the pirating thing. Cant be arsed looking for anything. You end up with more porn than anything and if you use torrents the cap goes in 2 days.

Try The Gimp www.gimp.org Free OpenSource equivalent of photoshop. Works in Linux and Windows
Life is difficult because it is non-linear.
