At the moment Im thinking of scaling back and missing out on Altimarloch as Mountie is coming on a later ferry and doesnt get in till 11.30.
How long would Altimarloch take Blenheim to blenheim ?
Doing them both in one day would be a good outing though .
We still have to make it home but we are used to doing that one in the dark.
Kyle and I did it in a little over 1 hr each way from memory, including friggin around at the top with cameras and doing burnouts on the hot tar by Taylor dam. We weren't mucking around though...
If you're wanting to meet up in Pictown have you thought about scooting around the corner to Tory Channel and coming back port underwood? Or even jsut riding hte port underwood rd and coming out at Rarangi. Then scoot down to Patriarch, coming back through Onamalutu if time permits.
Sadly I won't be around - gotta earn me some pocket money in my jungle greens...
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
I went up Linton Hill and out the Wangamoa Saddle today via 2hrs of side trails.
Didn't see a soul and could have spent another 2-3 hours exploring.
Not much of a track in some parts up high...
But great views...

OK I would like to do some more riding where Nordie went on Sunday. As I was workng on the bike Sunday I was wondering if he was up there...
So Maitai rockface WEDNESDAY 5pm. I'll be there & doing the last nite ride prob before daylite savings finishes. Keen on top of Maunga then down again the same way & up Linton Hill for a blast around the forest.
Any takers?
Some of the side tracks up the hills to the east.
Was that you who went past our place towing one littlie and another riding behind?
Not too keen on doing those roads during the week when active logging is going on. Can stuff up your chances of racing cross countries on forestry land
Jenni wants to do a final evening ride + food this week though.
Wairoa Gorge/Ben Nevis/Wairoa Gorge West Branch/Wakefield?
I think I may have heard the exhaust noise of a very new very small cc ktm twostroke coming from the hospital way today... & no not from WW's place

Yep. Not a very succesful outing. Eldest wasn't firing on all 25 cylinders so cut it short & watched kids movies - "Surfs up" is by far an alltime classic (if you're bit of a hasbeen waxhead with a perchant for romanticised island cultures)
I'm gonna stick to my plan of attack as I just want to stick close to home![]()
