Parking Bike at School

You can also get bike covers from Supercheep ... all in it's own little bag which is quite compact...when you aren't using it, use it as a pillow ...

And yeah, asking the caretaker/groundsman is your best bet for a nice, safe and dry spot for the bike. Remember, manners maketh the person and a please/thank you will get you everywhere!

Just park it in the principals office, no worries.

On a related topic, what are kb's wise wisdom on parking in windy condtions? Magua had an rg150 (before some tosser stole it) and once the wind blew it over (while we were watching hehe it was funny in a sadistic way!) so how do you park in windy condtions? Any tips or what not?

Centre stand is your friend.

You could also park close to a wall with the stand side against the wall - if the wind blows it, it hits the wall and not the ground! But then again, around the other way - cant fall either way? *now im confused*

ive been wondering that too. i parked mine up against the wall at work [right on the forecourt!] cos the spot i normally park was nothin but wind. the way i park, the wind and bike would have been going the same way, but i still didnt like the idea much.

I dont recommend them though. I have one and it leaks like hell on a wet day. Only good for protecting your bike from prying eyes.

Right, that's the cover taken care of, you're getting Doug's old one. I have also seen on KB people advising *never* to leave your bike outside if you can help it. According to the post I recall, they said nothing trashes a bike quicker (he didn't mention trackdays or binning it).

As to where to park it, many people maybe didn't know that the *first* day you took your new bike to school, some lowlife busted a lever off it. The caretaker sounds a good bet ... are you the only biker at Pram?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - I sprayed waterproofing spray on the inside of the joins!

Not that I have had the chance to test it out yet!

Most of the time, my bikes can handle a little rain - just rush out and toss some bubbles onto it and give it a wash at the same time!

naaaaa. Maintain it (wax it ... whatever...) the rains not a worry. Well not in my experience anyway. But then - I'm the guy that just rides them, puts too many miles on 'em and they keep going and going.

Whats the problem?

When you wash it , it gets wet.
So just take some bike wash with you. if it looks like it is going to rain give your bike a good squirt before you head off to your lessons.

When you get back your bike is nice and clean!

yeah and leave a sponge next to it... someone may even give it a scrub... LOL
