    Stonechucker in major accident.

Police report 13:20 today - a motorcyclist has serious/life threatening injuries after hitting the Moonshine Bridge, Tentham.

When will we stop crashing and killing ourselves!

Hope and pray for a brother or sister, people.

And hope it's not anyone from here.

Mate - we won't - riding a motorcycle is dangerous shit. Always has been - always will be.
Take the precautions, wear the gear and accept it could happen to any one of us. There are some odds.

Adds: hope the guy is OK and no one from here.

That bridge is a death trap. Ought to have been pulled down and replaced years ago

Frosty, you're right. It's on the Upper Hutt River Road

Here's a very rough diagram of what the bridge is like

Blue line in the river of course
Black line is the current road and bridge
Red line is where a bridge should be

You can see they were cheap bastards and made the bridge as short as possible by approaching the river at a sharper angle. Ideally it would be straight across. There's a heap of crosses on that bridge, they should never have built it

    Not 100% sure but

When I got diverted around this incident, could have sworn I saw SC standing by back of tow truck talking on cell phone! Plenty of but didn’t see an Ambo.

Hope there weren’t any serious injuries.

How serious was the crash? Did the bike go over the edge or just hit the barrier? Did any cars get caught up in the accident? There's a fair few cars going over and the 2 lanes are very thin

I came across the scene as they were putting Dave (Stonechucker) into the ambulance. So sorry Dave all the best and thinking of you and your family. And thoughts to VTwin who was riding with him and was obviously upset. Skunk arrived minutes after me.
It's very serious by the way so be careful what you all post here.

edit- I saw you as I moved on Bugsplat. Just to clarify SC and VTwin were heading home (south) after a ride up the hill. I was chatting with them both 2 hrs earlier at WMCC.

That set of corners was deceptively slippery last time I went through there. That was christmas time so they wont have improved any between then and now.

Apparently he was taken to Wellington Hospital just called them, they can't give me any info but he's there and his family are with him. Just called his home number but they don't have an answer phone, I'll text his parents & let them know we're thinking off them.
