I might have to bring the 800 I think, the thou doesn't have handlebar warmers. It's bloody cold sitting here typing....I think we've had a frost but I'm too scared to open the curtains to have a look.![]()

Ok I took a few pics on the ride today and I'll load them up but someone else will have to do a write-up as I'm off out soon and will be away out of town for the rest of the week. Basically a great day with fine weather - here's the pics.

Great ride guys & gals! Nice to meet a few more KBers![]()
Thanks once again to Hamish for watching my rear![]()
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.
Well done Merv.
It was VERY nice to meet you all and what a nice bunch you all are... Always nice to get out on the bike after a crappy week at work and I was smiling away inside me 'elmut as I pootled back up the coast....
I assume that was WT comin the other way on the rear wheel while I was goin' home? Sheesh! Must get some of that horsepower stuff one of these days... Himpressive but a simple wave would have sufficed!![]()
Got home in time to go for a good long stroll up the beach with Vicki and the dog (bo) in the last of the brill sunshine. Fan-bloody-tastic.
A bit of a nosh up, off to do the Jimbo, a glass or 2 of weak tea and wot a nice day......

A great KB ride to/in the Wairarapa, followed by a great KB "whisky-or-whatever-night" at Celticno6's. (thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=4005)
Jim2 volunteered to be our scribe for the ride, so I won't go on (of course, I normally don't talk much so (as those who know me will readily vouch) it's completely unnecessary for me to say that I would even contemplate "going on") because he will no doubt capture every intricate detail of a great day's riding and socialising.
And Merv, thanks for being the official photographer, and posting the photos so quickly.
Those on the ride:
Kickaha (XJ550) (all the way from Rangiora, our Guest of Honour)
Paul in NZ (beautiful 850 MkII Le Mans)
CelticSeaLily (Honda CB250RS)
Doug Green and Mrs Doug Green (each on a Kawasaki dirt bike - KLX400's?)
Velox (Honda Jade with Ducati racing stripe on the tailpiece and nicely polished wheels)
Merv (VFR750 - official photographer)
Jim2 (TRX 850 - official reporter with the wee willy)
Paul (CBR600 - Jim2's mate who left us at Featherston to go look at a Triumph to purchase)
F5Dave (RF900)
VTwin (SV1000S - Ventura's official headlight protector endorser)
StoneChucker (2004 R1 - wasn't a KB'er but he's now signed up cos we're all such wonderful people)
Dean (SV650)
Hamish (GS1200SS)
and last but not least, me (M1000Si.e.) (I decided I didn't need the handlebar warmers so left the 800 at home)
WhiteTrash: CSL did text you to let you know where we were.
Just a few quick notes re the photos.
CSL in the red cap: you may note the white-ish round blob on the brim of her cap - she was sitting under a tree at the Flying Fish and a bird shat on her! (did you buy that Lotto ticket CSL?)
Close-up of Velox in the sunnies: they're my $699.95 Oakley titanium Ducati sunnies (with the word "Ducati" laser etched on the left hand lens - like Reuben Xaus wears...now if only I could ride (without the biffs) like him.)
Me leaning on the toilet door: I was holding the loo paper which had run out, but CSL had gone in while I was in the servo getting a refill, so I was waiting there to pass it under the door to CSL
Group photo at the Fish: showing me in my MotoGP Official Merchandise Ducati hat: can you see the MotoGP Official Merchandise Loris Capirossi Ducati Bandana I'm wearing?
A few lessons we learnt in the course of the day:
- Always use headlight protectors
- Never sit under a tree with a bird in it
- Always check there's paper in the toilet before you go
- Never argue with someone with big balls
- There's always some sucker willing to pay big money for official merchandise
Thanks one and all for a wonderful day - good riding, and great company
.
Jim2: Over to you my friend for the official write-up......
That's me![]()
- I heard that collective sigh of relief!

Looks like it was a really cool ride!
I spent all morning running around trying to bleed my brakes properly, so by the time I'd sorted them it was a bit late. It's not like I own a bike now anyway![]()
Thought about you guys yesterday morning at rugby. Must have been chilly as going up the hill - the field was absolutely white went the kids started their game.
And it's beautiful weather again too. And I have to stay home, continue tidying and get ready for the people coming around soon.
Oh, and put a new windscreen on the fizzer.
Have a good ride today all you people on the hill. I can hear the motorcycles going down the motorway from here.... bastards.(just kidding)
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
- James Dickey, Cherrylog Road.
Hey Linda we wish our bikes were KLX 400's, but the ones we rode on Sat were the trusty old ex army half rooted KLR 250's.
They still go OK tho as some of the boy's going over the hill found out![]()
