    How many charity rides

Can we figure out how many charities and such motorcyclsist collectively support . And a guess at the money involved

I know some (only) of the Auckland ones

    Westpac Helicopter annually, about $15000
    Easter egg run - Salvation Army , annually . maybe $2000 ?
Toy Run , Salvation Army , annually, maybe $10000
Blood Runs, to give blood, several per year. priceless.

I know there are others in Auckland, and lots more outside Auckalnd

(plus of course all the one offs)

Can we add to this list.

SMC does a blood run every three months. Although probably not large enough numbers for what you're looking for.

Sorry to Hijack the thread Ixion

But Idea just sprang to mind!

Make the next set of Local protest rides a "BLOOD RUN"

Organize the blood bank to meet us at our destinations Ie the Museum!
and we all give them a pint!! Maybe 500ml if we can't ride for a time after? whatever is safe!
I'm sure they would like 3000 litres (nationally) or more of our blood!!

Think of the slogan ideas that could come forward!!

File this for future mate!! If its a goer!!

Sorry guys back to the thread! MY bad!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

ive done maybe 7 or so. only done one toy run... refused to do anymore due to supposedly experienced older riders making mistakes.
done westpac heli in auckers once, and supported a few charity runs that were fundraising for various things. like, one was raising money to support a heart transplant patient, another put the proceeds towards recliner chairs for the hospital child unit for parents to sleep in. stopped doing them as well due to the fact that the ride was always to a pub, and i felt unsafe riding back surrounded by people who had been drinking.

the really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour.

I think the examples below are outside your request but they're submitted in case they are of use.

A couple of charitable events I can think of involved raising $5000 for the widow who'se husband suddenly died. Likwise more recently the guy that died in a bike accident.

Also training of riders mentoring them to stay alive saving lives AND money for the state.
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

The Sundowner Ralley at Greta Valley each year around easter time donates all its proceeds to The Chomendey home for children.
It is run by the Plains Motor Cycle Club.
Im sure there is a link on their web site for the run.
Or better still members of the club who are KB'ers could confirm this.
They also take a gold coin collection for the Westpack hellichopper, I think.

Hey, another idea, not to hijack the thread either, but.
    Anyone contacted the City Mission?
Xmas is coming and I know they are well down on donations...could be a real vote winner and Diane (CEO City Mission) knows a lot of well placed, powerful people.
I would do it myself but would have no authority like the big man Les!
Failing that Lifewise (used to be the Methadist City Mission), same deal.
High profile Auckland charities who understand the concept of marginalization.

Unless you have been there you have no idea how appreciated these are.
