How many parks are in and about the place, with a small lake in that possibly suffered earthquake damage and needed to be drained and dug out?

Also Im lazy and was on my pushbike so theres no way its very far from the last tag.

I believe the digger is fixing a small lake/large pond but Im not sure. That lake is a man made one, built in the late 1800's, and had a clay base to keep the water in it. The Sept quake broke the base and rooted the banks, and the water drained out of it, I would guess the Feb quake did more damage. Now it's being dug out to be fixed. I would have thought there were higher priorities right now, but there you go.

Hopefully I've given you a bit of history without giving away any clues - that's not my job this time.

Spuds1234

I dont quite get that as it cant be in any worse danger of falling rocks than it was before Sept.

Much worse, they had already taken some of the over hanging rock rock down then February hit and it loosed up so much its not funny, there is a massive section threatening par t of the coal facilities that is over the road, but that's apparently not the worst of it, if you recall after September a section went to one lane, that was because the outside of the roads base became unstable, and this has occurred in a few more places. The retaining structures have failed as the rock they are bedded into has collapsed.

One problem apparently is a lot of the rock on the overhang is on DOC land, so before they get to bring it down it had to go through their channels, that takes time, and heaven forbid they have to do a study on the impact to some native moss or such.

You put your bike on hold over winter? There have been so many perfect riding days though!
Some of us don't like to spend a couple of hundred dollars for a few rides over winter, when you add in the gas around $100 a ride is expensive fun.....

I would use my bare feet to make me happy, but I would have to wait for the fruit of my labour, it wouldn't be instant gratification.

The items behind the bike have something to do with TALLOW and there is a time capsule buried in 1995 to be opened in 2095.

Hope that helps. oh yes and north of CHCH, easy roads, but an enjoyable trip with pub and cafe not too far away.

It had a loose fitting oil feeder pipe on the right side under the oil pump( fits into cover saying thunderstorm 1203) which poped out after about 3000k's. They put it back in saying don't know how it happened and ordered a replacement which was supposed to be fitted last thursday. Anyway when they tried to fit the replacement the inner thread came off and they couldn't tap it with the helicoil so they ordered a new cover( including new oil pump that is in their) from Aus.

Should be here today hopefully! and will have bike for weekend as want to go for a ride if the weather cheers up.

In the end I rode past the pier and noticed the same wall in the background and the same retaining wall in the foreground (the retaining wall in sumner is brick, this one is concrete) so I just rode down marine parade looking for it, found it in the carpark across from Bowhill Rd

Good tag, I've lived in New Brighton most of my life and I still had no idea - hence the trips to sumner

No rhyme there brp, IIRC dangerous placed a tag a while back at another Cobb & Co on the old west coast road in Courtney, that was an actual pub. Cobb & Co were also in Aussie and had many routes in NZ.

The reason the old place managed to be so beaten up is it is only 500m from what you might call ground zero ;)

I think D's idea of ground zero is the name of the fault that started it all, although it's a bit more than 500m from the epicentre of the Sept 4 quake to the old Greendale store.

500m from the start line of the sept 10 quake. The epi center (GZ a 300mm wide crack estermated at 3km deep) some show it 10km further north, but oddly there is no sign of it there.

Nice, I wasn't sure if I made it too cryptic or not... To help out a little more, I'll say that while part of the clue was the area, another part was a clue as to the name of the road it's on.
Also, to be fair, it's not so much at as near the area hinted at, like within a 5km radius

Also just in case people are looking for churches, it is actually a private house. About 15 years ago I got shown around the place by the guy who designed and built it, he was a somewhat eccentric dutch guy who wanted to combine various architectural features, hence the steeple.

Ah, excellent, glad I didn't make it too difficult.

As far as ending up out there, my dad used to live a few houses up the road from the tag, so it sprung to mind as a nice distinctive location, and my mum still lives thereabouts, so I grabbed both tags on the way out to her place, it turned out to be a great day for a ride. :D

Yeah, like I said, the guy was a bit odd, he figured he'd take his favourite features from every different style of architecture and chuck them all together.
If memory serves the place was only built about 18-20 years ago, and it definitely looked like that from day one.

Since Neels is the only one having any luck figuring it out, I'll give a little more info to give him some competition... It's within a few km of Oxford, roughly halfway between Oxford and the area hinted at in my first clue.
