Heres some of that dispicable past I alluded to. Marylands has about 100 years of history that we should be ashamed of as human beings. It was a different time with different attudes but I still cant get over the fact that adults could be this cruel to children. Unfortunatly, these scumbags didnt get away with this for decades without some complicity. The whole John of God order should have been wound up.

But before the kiddy fiddlers, there were these evil bitches... It seems the Sisters of the Good Shepard largely got away with the abuse they metred out.

'dispicable' gave me the clue , two places came to mind , gave me the creeps riding up there and on site looking, then spotted it on way out. lived within 8km's all may life and never seen it .children deserve a good start in life.
Good effort Cruza. First Guzza, now Cruza. Didn't realise there were so many keen night riders around. Maybe you guys should start a club. :shit::whistle:

Happy to say I know exactly where this one is (if I'm right), went very close to it a couple of weeks ago doing an adventure loop. By that I mean we took two favorite sealed roads that most people ride down then turn around and ride back and we went up one took a favorite adventure bit across to the other one and road back via the second sealed road so we had no back tracking by doing them like that.... if you can understand that.
Hmm, suns stll out. I may have to be off I think.

This one is proving to be a bit more of a challenge than I gave it credit for! Went for a wee blat, found a bunch of similar gates but not THAT one. I know I'm damn close tho! This wee expedition came at a cost. A judder bar jumped out at me and the Black Bitch is now lighter by both wing mirrors, right indicator and rear break pedal. Also smashed the right spark plug cap and stoved in the crash bar around the cylinder head. couple of wee scratches to the pipes and paint work too :( . No damage to the cylinder or head tho. Bloody heck, news of all these wreaks does not make ones day.
Just glad everyone is still here.
Winter, wet and dark riding all certainly require less speed with a lot more attention to surfaces.
Guzza, you must have gone down hard to get both mirrors with the rest.
Rosie, you leave us wanting some kind of description. Morbid curiosity is human nature for most of us. Guza got tangled up with a judder bar, was yours on a bend/straight/ open limit by the sound of it, do you suspect something slippery or just ran wide somewhere?
I hope the repairs are done well and in good time.

Hiya. Was on a straight.Just this side of Hanmer turn off. Riding with a group doing about 100ks, maybe slightly less. Fairly heavy rain. We had plenty of room between bikes luckily. Bike just slid out from under me on a greasy patch. Didn't have time to do anything. Bike behind me stayed upright. One behind him went down too on another patch.
No serious injuries and both bikes injured, so could have been MUCH worse.

I was coming out of North Hagley Park, going maybe15- 20 kph, squeezed the brake to slow right down for the double judder bar but locked it up. Hit the judder bar a couple of feet later and that stopped me dead. The bike went down to the right. Was puzzled to find the left mirror a few meters up the road, later I was aware of my left knee being pretty sore and figure I kung-fooed the mirror with my knee on the way over. It wont be messing with me again! Got me just below my knee actually, just below the armour  Very pleased she started with little fuss and got me home on one cylinder.
I should be able to attend to the sticky outy bits myself but not sure what the deal will be with the spark plug cap/lead and the crash bar looks pretty ugly. Not actually sure I could get that style to replace it.
Anyway, I got off light. a couple of wee scuffs on the leather and a bump on my knee. sounds like rosie should be buying a lotto ticket!

...It's a 10 speed that's almost as old as I am LOL.....I got one of those, it broke cable not long after I dusted it off and took it to Burwood Forrest (10-speeds on sand don't go so well) and after I patched it I could only get half the cogs on the rear. What's left of the cable was too short for the full range. I thought about replacing the cable but wanted a mountain bike to satisfy my renewed enthusiasm for cycling so got one of them instead.
It has done a fairly good job at keeping my interest while my DR650 engine was broken.

Thankful for that :).
Looks like you guys were tagging up a storm over the weekend. Unfortunately, I'm out of the game for a while too. Took a high speed spill on the bike yesterday. I came out alright, tho I'm still not sure how. Bike very banged up. Getting insurance sorted today. Hope you guys keep the game going til I get back.
Gee gus sad to hear it!!!! Hope to see your rides back up and running soon. Ride safe out there everyone

Looked like it would fit on Old Taitapu Rd nicely to me, it's a little hard to tell from google maps but I think the bridge construction and trees are wrong for the one over there that I had in mind.

Resize it if required to make it good for web viewing... about 800x600 pixels is my recomended size.
Make a new post, go advanced, manage attachments, browse to the one on your hard drive that you want to upload.

When it dissapears from the browse area and appears lower in the window you are ok to close the small window and then submit your post as normal.

Nice one JMemonic, I walked back round and had a better look at it yesterday arvo and found there is no info on it or the artist anywhere in the reserve. The halo is made of barbed wire, reminds me more of a crown of thorns.
I do know it was put up must be like two years ago now when they were digging up and re doing a lot of the guttering about the local area.
Part of the Addington beautifying? project acording to the newsletter.
The 'water feature' in the reserve would be quite nice if it had water in it but I have never seen it with anything more than a couple of puddles.
It's on Disraeli Street (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=104006398483911262434.00046cc21673b6bad5b7e&ll=-43.541207,172.623711&spn=0.016332,0.028753&z=15) next to Selwyn Street. I've updated the map now.
Bring on the next one, it's going to be a great day to ride.
Pictures are more from the same found place showing the always dry 'water feature'.

ohhh Rosie, it's sad to hear people say things like that. It was in the middle of everywhere, I thought it would have been an easy cycle for everyone living within the city limits. It's mostly flat here you know.

What blue LED's? I dont see no blue LED's then of course they are set up to turn off with the bike ignition
Any how I dont recall ever seeing that installation (I use that word as that is what they call art right, me I call it a oddity but...), I ended up using a wee bit of detective work to locate it.
I will try and get the tag today and post it later tonight when I get home from work.

That water feature might actually be a pretty retention system i.e. a pond for high rainfall/flooding events.

you may have been one of the several thousand cyclists i had to negotiate up in them thar hills...There were a fair few MCs on the road, especially evans pass. There were also a fair few road cycles there too.
I should be easy to spot, green and black MTB, white helmet and the bag on the carrier, GPS on the handlebar.
I note most cycles don't have a carrier, let alone the bag.
I actually went up Rapaki track along the summit to the Bridle Path which I used to drop in to Lyttelton. Stopped in on friends then Evans Pass and once at Ferry Rd/Tunnel Rd I took to tracks and back roads again.
Loved it, took about 1hour 20 minutes to Lyttelton and same to get home. That must be fairly slow as I was over taken by most other cycles I saw.

For anyone interested here's a link and screen shot of part of the Geocaching map around the Christchurch area.
(http://www.geocaching.com/map/?lat=-43.51967608523922&lng=172.6278305053711&zm=12&mt=h) Dial up may require a little patients while it loads.
The little smiley faces in the screen shot are caches I have visited and found. The ones in the sea are not in the sea, they were puzzels that had to be solved first, the actual cache was somewhere else.
There are others that have only one icon on the map but make you visit several places to pick up a trail that leads you to another final destination.
Of course to make the most of it you really need a GPS but some can be done with out.
This is a great way to discover all sorts of places and things. :niceone:
To claim a cache you find it, sign the log book it contains, replace it back where it was, then go online and log the find.
According to the stats I have only found 247 caches around the South Island so far out of thousands hidden about the place.
:Offtopic: Anyway, as you were.
Good luck with being first today Little Angel.

No hurry though, really. This game is costing far too much in fuel etc. which could be better spent on real trips latter if I saved it.
The night shot and the google map street view equivalent. There's more leaves in the google view so I guess it was a warmer season when they took that, unlike the summit road where it has snow. They must have been driving the camera cars around for a while.
