Well myself, mygsxf and crazyfrog went for a nice relaxed cruise today, it was good to meet some kbers in person.
Jen had Warewolfs KTM and he will be lucky if he gets it back. We went over Dovedale hill and Sunday creek where there was a pine blocking the road, but we found a way round, we also found some fish n chips laid out on the road by the tree.
Crazyfrog GPS,d us around some forestry roads which was fun and even a grass track. (bloody slippery grass:angry::angry:) Nothing some new bits, a crow bar and some physio won't fix.
Then went most the way up dryweather road where Jen went onto reserve so her and me turned back to tap for gas and coffee, and Crazyfrog went right through and roaded back to work.
Went back over Dovedale hill and home. Great fun.
BTW there are no crash pics as I was the only one to crash x 3 and the only one with a camera. Gotta learn to stay upright.
MMMMM Fish n chips

Caught up with Thommo77 & had a natter, he said he had to go for a leak & the next thing I see is a KLX doing massive whips & cross over superfreak backpedaling backflips.
Man and to think that only the other night he was riding with us...:headbang:

A good reason for electric startLights off helps. Plus the air filter is probably (over) due for a clean now given the :scooter: Jen's been doing. :Punk: Gets noticeably harder to start with a dirty filter. (It's got a tiny filter to make room for the electric leg - so with that broken it's the worst of both worlds )

Blimey that thing looks surprisingly similar to a Honda NX650 Dominator of the same era! Front guard, front fairing, rad guards bolted to tin tank, the instruments, the square-ish sidecovers at the exhausts, the bash plate...
Belongs in Dual-purpose not Tourers though.

Warewolf has done one on the 640.
I usually use the XR250 so should be quicker on the DR :D
The B-grade sections are usually suitable for kids on 80's but kids on 80's are often mad little buggers.
If it's not too wet then some good tyres and you're away.
Last time I rode Kikiwa it only had 1 or 2 b-grade bog sections but the views...

Yes I rode the 640A on the last Laid Back at a different venue. It was hot 'n' dry. Hard rocky base with lots of (optional) A-grade very steep loose downhills, with the occasional uphill bit on them. So nothing to really trouble a porky under-tyred under-suspended over-weight adventure bike. In the wet, you might struggle if it gets even remotely boggy or greasy - so get in while the weather is good!!
I did have to stop after nearly every lap and crank up the suspension clickers, and I did basically destroy an admittedly already-used front tyre in one day by breaking 80% of the side knobs off. Helluva fun day, really showed that the 640A is an off-roader at heart, but quite tiring on the big beastie (versus say 96kg of 2T with better & more suspension).
Will have to make an effort to go if you lot are going to put in a showing. :Punk:

It has ceased to be, expired, gone on to meet its maker, its bleedin demised, it is no more, its kicked the bucket, its shuffled off its mortal coil, its metabolic processes are a matter of interest only to historians, it's fucking snuffed it, it's an ex-MT21!!

The first pic disapeared so here it is.
bloody brilliant day, the first lap was a wee bit slippery, but after that it was fantastic (mostly). had one off where I took the arrow too literally and somehow went between these trees.
Note Topo almost doubling over with laughter as he picks up the wreckage of my bike from around ensuing area like a kid on an easter egg hunt.
Also note the bark missing from the tree.
Again brilliant day and i wanna do another one. Those Swedish bikes are looking more appealing by the day.

The second lap was sooooo much more fun.
The third lap shook my arms/wrists to pieces on the CT125.
The fourth lap I followed Jatz around getting footage of hom washing/drying/jumping the CT.

I prefer the XR250 for this sort of ride but it's a good way of finding out what your bike can actually do.
It was certainly pushing the envelope of adventure riding and it was great to practice riding some terrain I wouldnt normally ride on a big bike ,ie; wet slippery grass side slopes and steep downhills ,mud holes with steep muddy exits.
I achieved what I set out to do , got round a 16km lap without arsing off or damaging my body and decided to quit while I was ahead (not like some of us )
Jatz you are a bloody legend , that overtaking manoeuvre was a class piece of riding. The mighty CT was certainly standing proud on the trailer when Team Jatz hit the highway.

Had another stab at the Elaine bay, Penzance pylon track this evening on the KTM .Finished the digger job early and while the bloke I was working for went away to get beer I thought I'd nip over to Penzance and back .
Well the strap on my backpack broke and put me off ballance and I arsed up and ended up having to push the 'hard to start when flooded Ktm' up a rise to get some down hill , got to the end ,turned around and didnt make it up the slippery hill Topo and I got stopped on last attempt ,so in the interest of self preservation I hit the highway out to Rai and home round the long way . Running very short on gas I called in to Elaine bay to scrounge some and ended up having to drink beer in return for having my tank filled then continued home in the dark with my 1 candle power headlight .All in all a good day out adventure riding . so Padmei and co dont stop at pelorous this track is do'able .

Anyway you know how some days you have an average ride then somedays you're on fire - well yesteray I had one of the best rides ever:yes: The weather was great - not too hot not too cold, no traction probs - in fact I think rooted MT21 front tyres could be a new performance phonomeonenen -phenonemenon -thingy.
Murphys law is always present on your ride & the only time I encountered two way traffic was on the slipperiest steep shaley parts of the track:crazy: No probs though due to the aforementioned front tyre & the E09 on the back which is really excellent on that type of surface.
