So what happens when the thousands of bikes leave the stadium after the Speeches, not everyone is going to leave at the same time and turn left to head back out of town with a police escort are they?? What would happen if everyone headed right ??

we WILL cause massive problems on the 17th.As hawkeye has said the line of bikes will be kilometers long.it will take ages to park them all,it will take ages for 6000 odd bikers to cross thorndon quay and then molesworth street.even if we o walk through the station ,under thorndon quay and cross molesworth street we will bring that part of town to a standstill.....
And you wait till you hear the noise that 6000 bikes will make.
I wonder which way the convoy will go into the stadium...coming in off aotea quay we have to make a right hand turn.If we stop for the lights the tail of the queue will stop on the motorway...
Just come from the Ground Zero meeting for those marshalling the event.
Trust me, the organisers seem to have things pretty well sewn up. Every eventuality seems to have been covered including things like traffic lights, the merging of the two convoys, possible disruption by other motorists, getting the people across the roads to get to the beehive etc. etc.
The police and city council are doing everything possible to assist with the smooth running of the event whilst still remaining a neutral party.
If everyone behaves and follows the instructions and briefings which will be given out on the day then the event should run relatively smoothly.
Looks like a wet trip home for most the next day...

That's me... not quite a Goose though, more of a CrocodileI am going to fly down to Dunedin Sunday just so I can ride a bike up on Monday to the ferry and get there good and early so I can score me one of those "wild geese" parking spaces before any impostors riding down from Auckland weasel their way in.

Political correctness: a doctrine which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd from the clean end.
Just been googling street view around Molesworth and Bowen Street. It ain't looking good for coffee shops.
The heathens don't appear to have kept up with our cafe society requirements. We may have to pack our thermoses
Seriously though, if anyone can help with suggestions of a good cafe opposite the beehive entrance it would be appreciated. Must have an elevated perspective of the front steps and main door to the Beehive. The cafe must also have a rear door.
TIA

Just to ad to Ixions statement
Many of the 'reserved' spaces at Molesworth are held for pre-arranged disabled riders who have contacted the organizers regarding this factor.
PLEASE consider this, as if you have two good legs, you CAN walk from Parliament, they may have difficulty doing so
As for Cafe's, good point we need a coffee cart!!!!
Occidental 100m south on Lambtons good.....
We can get some more parking on the Vic uni side of Lambton north end, but ANYONE on Pavements or the Cenotaph will be towed, we have that on good authority, due to stains left on 31st
Just ride.
The coffee cart on Molesworth St (a block from parliament) makes the best coffee EVER!
FYI can anyone tell me where I can get a good coffee in downtown Auckland? I go up twice a month at least and the last one I had tasted like it had been strained through a 6 week worn jock strap.
Theres one a block up the road just past the church on the left.

6000 bikers. One coffee cart. Epic fail.
Pack a thermos.
And seriously, the timing means that those riding in from afar won't get a chance to eat until 3 or 4 pm. And any nearby eateries will be crowded out.
pack some nibbles or scroggin or the like.
We don't ant hungry bikers crashing cos bloos sugar's gone haywire.

Everyone might be quite surprised at how it works. Bikes may just seem to "melt away"...
David must play fair with the other kids, even the idiots.
theres a coffe shop right accross the road, it got a pretty good workout last time...
Cellar Vate, i might give them a call to make sure they have extra staff on hand, i think they're gonna be busy

2 mins walk from Parliament is Featherston St. Quite a lot of coffee shops and pubs/Hotels that do snacks and coffee etc.
Or - The terrace. Again less than 2 mins from Parliament with coffee shops galore.
Last time we rode on the 31st, it was a Saturday and not all of those were open. This is a business day in the CBD.
They will all be open.
And if they have any sense, they will be gearing up for the influx.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

the really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour.
There's a supermarket in the Railway station and another up the street Parliament's on. Also some more cafes and stuff up that way.
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
I smell a golden opportunity for a gargantuan pie cart.
