Well, seems like a good time to jump in. i confess, that was me. yes, 241kph (removed the wing mirrors) and 11.3 standing with an almost empty tank and me trying to keep my weight forward on the launch. awesome weekend. off with the pipes next time i think! (vids on youtube, search for gavinlegge or cliffhanger 2009 if you want to hear the vfr800 with the ends of the exhaust modified )

i have been lurking on KB for awhile now, but with the bikeoi have become a little more active. and of course i saw the street sprint thread and had to go didn't I...

So yeah, an 85VF1000R (which is currently de-reged but i'm getting the itch to get her on the road again after last weekend), the VFR800 2002 (latest addition to the garage) and i did have some time ago a rat vfr400 NC24 which was stolen from Haitaitai outside my flat a few years back. I miss that bike.
so yeah, sign me up for a Vee four lover for sure.

have a look at my profile pics to see the VF1000R (oh yeah, she dosint look like that any more (pics taken after body restored), the 1000 has over 280,000k's and is a bit worn out (but still a runner). and has been down the road a few times and used as a daily runner, so not looking so pretty today i'm afraid. time for another restore. but love the bike to bits. done a few 1000 milers on it as well. awesome machine.
), the 800 and i dont have any of the nc24 on here but there are some on http://www.angelfire.com/hi/VF1000R/vfr.html if you need a work shop manual for a VF1000R it can be found here.. http://gavweb.dts.net.nz/VF1000R

Hi to all. lovin KB so far.
    cheers

    Gudday!
If you whip off the pipes, you are looking at 115db of sonic power!
That is what mine read on the meter when in that configuration.

    Hi, Mr Glegge.

Have you checked out The Mrkn VFR forums? The best is VFR Discussion, which has a few ongoing VF1000 restores going on.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Another VFR400 on the Road.

Took the $300 TM special in on friday for a COF, WOF and REG. All passed except he made me go buy a $5 reflector for the back (LOL).
Not the tidiest machine..... An oldie, but a goodie.

    Check it out.

PS: Still after a Tank at a good price, my bogging aint too hot.

Or if anyone has a bike with a kaput motor for cheap, i'm interested.

    Help !

Ok vfr aficionados, I have stumbled across something which has me boggled a little.

Have most of the weekend free so I thought I would tootle around with the suspension settings on the vif, see what the adjusters can do, found the manual, preload and rebound damping are adjustable, sweet.

Gathered the necessary tools and went into the garage. Now it seems where on the drawing preload adjusters should be, there isn't. There is no place for a 14mm spanner, only the fork caps. Also on the rear the preload adjuster is a big nut on a ramp kind of set up, rather than the adjuster and lock nut on a fine thread.

This made me suspicious that my "1990" nc30 is actually an 89, inside the seat it says vfr400riii (k).

    Its an 89 isn't it ?

Look on the bright side - it's legit for the Post Classic Pre-89 Junior class now!

dunno what the k means but it'll likely be the year or maybe colour.

it could well be an 89 model that sat on a showroom floor until being rego'd in 1990 (maybe even advertised as a 1990 bike)

it could be a 1990 model that's had the forks swapped out to improve a trackbike

it could be a 1990 model that's been badly crashed and had the suspension and maybe even tail replaced for all we know

either way there's not much you can do about it aside from selling it or just finding newer components

The frame shows not obvious signs of crash damage ?

Either way I'm not too bothered, preloading the front springs just means turning up some shims rather than turning a knob..

    Here ya go Click

If its a "k" which it could be because regos especially of imports arnt always 100% accurate and could have even been sold new in 1990. If you go to here you will see a bit of info on the fork details. From the first link does your paintjob match up with the model codes?

Cool, yeah its the type 2, silver and black with red tail. It has the budget damper rod forks rather than the cartridge jobbies.. So it could well be a 90', just with poos forks, oh well, springs and GV's then, bummer

Edit - It is an 89, K means 89 so the internet tells me..
